You can always tell a zoo lion because they have so few scars and are in better shape than those in the wild. He doesn't even look like he resents waking up from his nap! I agree with Renee. What were your settings in the camera? You say it was midday, so my thought is that the sun might have blown out the colors. If you use Lightroom, try holding down the shift key and click on the black slider and the white slider. It might improve the white balance in this photo. Great capture, they sleep for most of the day, and are awake early morning when fed. |

You have two great images, I like the color and monochrome. I think the monochrome has too much contrast - it is a very artsy presentation but there is information that is lost in the deep blacks. It also is the reason for blown-out highlights. You don't say how you converted this to B & W, what program did you use? What were your original settings? |

Beautifully sharp and ultimately cute, these owls are popular and this photo would likely sell. I love the texture and pattern of the feathers, paralleled in the wood. Nice job on the background too -perfect amount of blur that echoes the shapes of the feathers. Well done! |

Great capture of a butterfly and the matching tones of the flowers! Your focal point is the butterfly, which is sharp, but the depth of field is blurring the flower in the right corner in front. It works but I would try a vignette darker in that corner. Cropping down a bit from the top and from the left edge and you have a square. I think this would be a beautiful tile or small minature photo! |

Wow. Very dramatic presentation, and what a good choice to go monochrome. I didn't know there was a Nik Silver 3...and I love the coppery tone. |

Keep the tree! I adds to the story of the image, and impact of the photo. You could crop off of the bottom. I am wondering if there is enough contrast between the car and the foliage. Maybe the foliage in the front which is brighter could be darkened; and the car slightly darker. |

I rarely like frames around photos, but in this case the frame is similar to the path, and it fits nicely. I think the B& W is a good choice, otherwise the image would be too busy. |

It looks like the swirl of clouds is going to make lightening, and I think the sky gives that sense of anticipation. I'd suggest you darken the trees for contrast. What a great "blue hour" shot. Maybe darken the road a bit, which runs parallel to the cloud on the left third. Wonderful image. |

Your post processing and the use of infrared has made the tower look like an etching. It stands in contrast to the almost mundane building next to it. I would keep that tower in mind if you are inclined to ever create a fantasy photo; there should be mist around the bottom and the possibility of magical beings or dragons...or princesses with long hair. In the photo presented, I'd suggest that the curve on the hill leading to the "cottage" be darkened a bit to pull the eye to the tower. That is a very large "cottage"! Please forgive me for being such a Yank...What is Stourhead? |

What a fun choice of colors. This is really different, and I like the idea of leading lines into the purple tones of mountains. I think the mountains would pop more with some contrast added. I am not sure that I agree with Julie, knowing that Big Sky is part of the ranch scene. |

Yes, the shadows and wires suggest heart shapes, and the shadows an echo which makes up the beat! I love the focal point of the red earring. Hmmm...earrings are something I collect and will consider as potential subjects. How fun. I love the light. Well exposed and captured! |

I'm a knitter, so yarn does come to mind. I love the motion and abstract nature of this photo. |

Peter, you are pushing the limits of a painting and photography, and how they can so easily overlap. I don't care for the bits of color but wonder what would happen if you used a gradient tool on the G key or paint bucket tool in PS. Draw out from the center to give a sense of depth, or shade it. |

Hi Judith, what a creative twist to a web! Really fun. I love science fiction! I like the way you have the spaceman's arms and legs carefully woven into the web. The holes in the web indicate there has been struggle and the symbolism of being trapped is great. This has a lot of potential more fun; you could swirl the background to spin more like the time travelers always have that echo the web. Enjoy!
