I did a slideshow of these wonderful creatures, and I did tone down the purple in this image. Thanks everyone for the feedback! |

Eastern Washington state in the Palouse area has these wonderful rolling hills that the farmers plant, making abstracts and amazing backgrounds. I'm totally biased, this is better than cornfields! |

Brad,
I have a photo of a saloon in Scenic, South Dakota. I think I submitted it in the last round. It has skulls on the roof. |

Jon, this comment doesn't match the photo posted. It sounds like my photo of the saloon? |

I also like the original, the golden lights. I see two photos here, one without the boat entirely. I took it into Photoshop, cropped it up from the bottom, and removed the boat. What is so characteristic of Amsterdam are the bicycles on the railing. I also removed the spot above the 2nd arch - is that the moon or a camera spot? And the tree on the left. What distracted me more than the boat was the white line from the movement of the boats under the bridge. If you had a given it a longer exposure, that might have disappeared; I just took it out with a spot brush - lines go away with shift click on one end and click on the other of a line. I also messed with levels using curves adjustment for the brightness. My apologies for messing with your photo; it was just an idea. |

LOL! If my African friends saw this they would laugh. They also laughed when they saw American pet small dogs dressed up and sitting in strollers. Definitely wacky. Looks like you had fun. The stripes are well done. Are you going to share how you did it? And what does NH image mean? |

Aptly titled. I checked to make sure it wasn't hanging in the distress mode, which is upside down. This is a shot with beautiful lines, and the sky is a perfect graduated blue. I disagree with Jon, barns are always full of stuff, and that is just my realism. It would look weird to have an empty barn. Maybe the compromise is to darken it a bit so the white doesn't distract. This has wonderful colors and tones of Autumn. Welcome to the neighborhood (I'm from Western Washington, but we get to the Palouse regularly).

Nice stacking of two images, you are creating your own fireworks show! I note that the first image of fireworks in the original are brighter; and perhaps the processing darkened the final image. I would suggest bringing up the overall brightness of the fireworks. That can be tricky, but in this case would really impact the photo. |

Hi Debbie,
I appreciate everyone's comments. I think the "sign" you are referring to is actually an old truck in the background. It says "Oysters" which I think adds to the reason of the photo. I am inclined for that reason to keep it. |

I have been noticing the quilt patterns on barns in Washington, Oregon and idaho as we get around on our photography trips. This is really nice, I like the purple tones in the sky, grass and quilt. The leading lines of the path to the quilt draws my eye, and the beautiful grain of wood in the barn is highlighted by the quilt. Well done! |

I like the original with the red tones too! Good choice in keeping the couple in the photo. Nice reflection capture of the rock and the light. I thought at first impression this could have been like a monochrome with neutral density filters, there is a nice soft light in the foreground. |

Lovely clouds in the sky, and a well-balanced image. Where is Stourhead? I'm from Shoreline, near Seattle, Washington. Never heard of it. This is really nice as a landscape of bridge, water and home. I love the details that infrared captures in the trees and stonework. You also captured a nice perspective of the bend in the river. |

Hi Stuart, I love old barns, their texture and wood. They are becoming "historic" as farmers now use aluminum instead of wood. I think there is a strong vignette on your photo, and although that might add to the old-fashioned look, it also darkens it, expecially with the sepia tone added. I would try feathering the vignette back more, and would prefer a brighter overall photo that shows off the wood grain. The little cloud in the upper left looks kinda lonely there...I would give it some friends or remove it.

Sharon, this is what you meant by HDR and Infrared, using three exposures. I can see the advantages in the resulting range of tones. Your choice of a vertical landscape brings in the leading lines of the fence, or is that a bridge. I do wish you had captured the tops of the trees, it feels a bit cut off. I guess that keeps the subject the lane though, instead of the trees. I also appreciate the texture of the lane, which at first glance I thought was noise until I realized it was not in the trees. Nicely done! |

Peter, Thanks for the tips about ACR and Creative 03 profile. I decided to print this and after applying the o3 profile with some sharpening in Topaz AI it made a wonderful difference!

Thanks for your feedback. I do like the sharpening effect of yours, and I will try it. In regards to the blue, I recall that it was blue in the aquarium. I have no idea if it is coral or something the aquarium uses for the sea anemones to attach themselves to. Next time I am there, I will ask. |

Judith, I do not have a polarizer for my 60 mm macro lens...it is tiny on an Olympus camera. The blue is what the anemones were attached to, and I'm not sure what it is. |

Wonderful. I grew up with a boat in my life every weekend, and love to sail. Perfect f16 star. You have a slight refraction curve to the right of the white sail, FYI. Or is that a plane contrail? Perfectly cropped! Love the geometry and balance of this image...wish I was there. |

Hey, I am with Peter. Very fun. I have been noticing clouds and silhouettes in shadows in the same way. Thanks for the inspiration! |

Wow, this looks like a trumpet created our of light to me. Aptly titled Blue Rhapsody! Or is it Rhapsody in Blue?
It always fascinates me how art can overlap in our minds - as a musician I love this; as a photographer visually this is totally beautifully created. This image has a nice sense of motion, so add the Dance in the title. I love that it is sinking into the water, and the reflections are perfect. Don't change it! Thanks for the light show. |

This is a nice soft composition that should be soft - fog is that naturally. I am overcoming my subject bias of these garden pests, with fond memories of Bambi...but really, you caught them in their best attention, ready to spring, but not quite. Ok on to the post processing. The oil painting filter can cover a lot of noise; but I think the background over the fence is too much. Maybe you could mask the deer and foreground before applying the filter? Fog doesn't have paint brush patterns...or can you split the brush strokes setting in two areas? |
