Hey Jon, I appreciate the feedback. It was a 2.0 converter, and sometimes when you are watching 4 grandkids, you just don't change lenses.

One of the things I learned about working on sky with Lightroom is that the exposure slider adds grey. I'm not sure if you processed it that way but I don't care for the dark top of the sky in this photo. Could you use a gradient filter? I am curious, could you post the original? |

Ditto, sorry I know the lake probably curves, but we tend to get visually confused see water with tilted lines. This is gorgeous light; and nice reflections. Wonderful. I would suggest the gradient of blue in the sky could be slightly lighter. |

Oh please, give me warning. I definitely am going off my diet with just seeing this!! Actually I have a friend the introduced me to Hygge, and I think it is a wonderful idea of rest and relaxation during the winter months.
Ok about the photography. I think the white vignette is too strong - try feathering it more or not using it. In a sense the white is making this "dreamy" but I'd lower the impact of the lines where the fog starts. |

Lovely high impact artistic image. What a fun idea. As a gardener, I'd want to try to grow it! Very well done. |

This reminds me of Italy. I would play a bit with selective color - could the raincoat be red and all else monochrome? How did you convert this? If using Silver Efex Pro, there is the option of "control points" and I would consider lighting the sky more to parallel the light on the cobblestones. |

Tails are about what you get to see, unless you get lucky. What is fun is that these immense creatures go on a cycle - from Hawaii Maui in the winter and to Alaska in the summer. We saw the same pod on vacation and also in Puget Sound. It is thrilling to see how huge they are. You did well with the shot, and I like the shade of the water. The scientist on our boat told us they can identify the specific whales by marks on their tails. |

Yikes, is that the Twilight zone episode with a demon on the wing of the airplane?? I had nightmares about that one as a kid.
At first look I thought of those airplanes that everyone thought were UFO's. The ones in the desert that were top secret and invisible black.
Very creative. I like the polarization. The astronaut seems too real, maybe he should be not so sharp. The two stars are not the same size, is that to create depth? |

Wow. Good choice in the black and white, I think of the military as a black and white type image and way of thinking. What could you use as military symbols? How about medals, ribbons, uniforms? How about hands on guns, tanks, vehicles? How can you mix the human with the symbols? Check out military museums - there should be a lot of subject matter there. We have one near the army base in Washington.
You have an excellent subject, and I can imagine many different collage type images that would express the shock, rage, sorrow of this project. Well done. |

Sorry Peter, I disagree. There is plenty of texture information in the white. Your cropped image seems more burned out to me. On my monitor, there are very few burned out areas, and that is mostly just slightly across the higher parts of the flower. I would suggest just a slight bit less of the highlights for that.
I like Judith's comments below about the tiny faces in the center. Also this is an interesting shot on F22 instead of using macro. Is it focus stacked?

Please translate NECCC? Is that a conference?
I really enjoy the colors and movement in this image, and from your description it refers to strobe light and water? Could you describe more what you did?
I agree the blue fringe on the right edge is distracting. If I had not read the description, I would have thought of light painting as the source. |

New cable. Try a different port on the computer. Also test drive on a different computer to figure out the failure site. External hard drives are cheap, they don't last forever. You can get an external hard drive from Costco. All of this is from my IT husband, Henry.
Moving on, I like the idea of your image, and the "rays" of light. Clearly you did some post processing of the image. Of course it made me think of the Scriptures about walking in the light... |

Karl,
I always wondered who reads the accompanying text. The use of photography for humor can be subtle. The title of this is "Tootsies" and I intentionally left in the feet at the top because the bird doesn't have feet at the bottom. I know better than to leave it like this otherwise.
I titled it "Footloose" at my photo club, and the commentator didn't get it either, so maybe it is too subtle? What do other group members think about photography and humor? |
