I commented on the horizon previous to your comment. It is possible that the image is straight in the foreground, but the clouds and land make it look crooked. When the land in the background is lighter, it makes sense. |

Hi Renee,
I think this would lend itself well to a kaleidoscope or Mandela app. In PS I lightened the original, and made it a square. There is an app in Paint.net with a Kaledidoscope plug in. This is what I ended up with. |

Ah, yes. I lived near there for five years. Beautiful shot, and you captured the feel of the city with Alcatraz in the harbor, very sharp, great light. That "feel" is the hills and streetcars and Fisherman's Wharf at the bottom of the street. I agree with the suggestion of toning down the frame edge - red car, pink shirt. I am guessing this is hand held and you were in the middle of the street? |

I am currently exploring the use of flash, and can you tell me if you used any with this? The natural light is obvious, but the lotus flower with shadows is caught in very pretty transparency. Well done. |

Thank you for the best wishes, and this image. Very fun. I agree with Larry and Jon. I am wondering if you the lights outside the jar could be more of a starburst - like on f16 - as the lights "escape" to become "stars"?
Happy New Year everyone! |

I like the monochrome version, but there is problem with a perceived horizon line. It is because the original has a sense of depth since there is a cliff behind the stones and a light blue mountain range. In your conversion to b& w, you lost that light blue and it is almost a solid black tone. I would lighten the mountains, using a dodge and burn in PS brush at 20%; then correct the background to look "straight". I think this is why I prefer Silver Efex Pro for work on monochrome, it isn't so heavy handed. |

This is really interesting that it should be posted now, since I am in a class with Rob Knight on Olympus cameras and he is using the same photo for the juniper tree...his exercise is to take 10 frames of the same thing, and make it different. You just gave 11. Very nice angle. Love the light. Do you know Rob? |

What a fun light painting project! I love the colors and shapes of the color image, and this is inspiring me to look at our rain barrel next time it freezes. So far we have had one small snowstorm and the power went out yesterday with a rainstorm,I live north of Seattle. Good job getting out those lights when they called!

What a great still life, nice and sharp. I like the choice of a basket, it gives it a very earthy feel. Good choice of veggies, their colors are placed well. Lately I have seen varieties of all colors of cauliflower, yellow is not surprising me anymore. Very nice correction by Peter too. By the way Peter, I just noticed you are wearing a tux. Quite formal for this group. |

Exactly how I feel about 2020. Although making this seems cathartic, it is possible to do the same in Photoshop, try it out under Filters. |
