I like the textures in this photo - the dust of the road, the sagebrush, the sky. I'm not so sure if that cloud needs to go - the zig zag of the road might just zag again if you leave that for your eye to travel to it in the end. I like the color of the bag on the wagon too - if you added that, good choice. |

The crop of this photo is bothering me - long and narrow like the jetty, but I miss the sky being there. It is crisp, and the contrasting yellows and blues are great. I think your boost to the sunshine was a bit too much -particularly in the water, the highlights feel too bright. |

Beautiful shot, the top of the lighthouse touches the Milky Way. Star shots need a foreground, and this is the first I have seen using a lighthouse. What a great idea. The problem in Washington State is that the lighthouses are in a park that closes at dusk, so I think there would be limited legal access. So are there two photos layered here with the lighthouse and the stars? Or was the lighthouse lit up? I like the way that the lighthouse gives a leading line into the stars, but the keystoning effect could still be corrected more. Have you tried using Transformation in Photoshop? |

Well done replacement for the background. I find the white top petals of the dahlia a bit blown out and wonder if the highlights could be toned down with a brush. I really like the added colors in the flower and the green in the background. I almost submitted a flower photo too - but I sent it to my other digital study group 79; so you can see mine! |

I think you have found the lavender sorbet anyway. It is a lovely suggestion from the color of purple and base of the vase. I like the blur gradient of grey in the background in contrast with the lavender. Where did you find the purple spoon, or did you color it post-processing? Very creative! |

This is a very light touch feel for the lily that I am used to seeing in bright orange and darker colors. To me this is an unusual choice of a light background; I have seen photos with black and darker textures but brighter lilies so this matches. It is really well exposed and processed. By the way, is the title correctly spelled? Or is that the British spelling? The use of the white vignette as a frame has erased some of the texture in the background; try feathering a bit more and I think since you cropped it as a square I would try a more circular vignette. I also would appreciate more of a stem with the flower so it doesn't seem to be floating; this is just my preference though and adds to the effect of softness. Beautiful image! |

Judith, thank you for the suggestion of the crop. I have found this photo challenging in regards to cropping. Great idea. Thanks, I like this because it keeps the entire plant. These are called Japanese Iris, and the flowers grow flat on the top of the stem. |

This really is beautiful! I like the way that you have softened the colors with a gentle approach; my fave is the painterly photo. It is like a pastel painting, and although it might not fit in a botanical book, it would hang beautifully as a photo in a mauve themed room. |

I like what everyone has said, and I think it is wonderful that you found Christmas in July!! I start making gifts for Christmas around now, too. |

I really like the way that you post processed this to bring out the textures. My only thought is that although it is a portrait you could feather more the vignette so that it doesn't leave an oval line around the cow. |

Hi May, this image could only have been taken on a sunny day because there is no way to get the shadows. A shadow is only visible as the contrast to the light. It is interesting you focus on the shadow and the bright path. |

Paying attention to the title,"Old Covid's Comin'" is this poisonous? What an interesting catch! I think this is a photo I would puzzle over for a while, and then think about the COVID virus under the microscope, which looks like little spiked balls. There is a skeleton death face in that leaf in the background! Lets hope we break the virus like this mushroom! |

Thanks Valerie for the suggestions. I have been doing flowers for years, so this is actual intentional rule breaking on my part. I think I do like the crop Karl is suggesting. |

I do like this crop, and thank you for the suggestion. It was intentional rule breaking on my part because I wasn't sure how much I wanted to leave out of the entire plant. |
