Thank you for all of the feedback. Using a technique from Mark Johnson, I set in PS a preset under Mode for Darken, and opacity at 8 for the clone stamp, and then carefully ran the stamp parallel to the edge to get rid of the fringe. I also highlighted the foreground and cropped in from the right and up from the bottom. How do you like it? |

Thanks! I have used it for star trails too, but wasn't aware that is what it was called - and never thought about lightening. We don't get lightening very often in Seattle, or if we do, you get drenched! |

Also I think there is more information in the roof and that could have been brought out more. Also note the tones in the rust bushes and mountains, I think those are great! |

Well, I like the color better. Yes the light is a bit flat, but up the exposure slightly - very slightly or use curves in PS. I appreciate the contrast of colors of the stone in the church and the tones including rust in the mountains. Very cool shot. |

I love color, and this one really sparks! It is interesting that the white orchids are in front and the color is in the strings...I think the word "color" is projected? And in white...so is the idea to think of the possibilities, since orchids come in many colors? Well, besides being an interesting display, you have a good photo of it. |

Good catch! I can tell that you really worked on trying to get the photo; and I'm curious how to use a velometer - I think mine is built into my camera.

I agree about the need for more contrast - at first glance I didn't "see" the stones; I think because the water is lit right next to them. What would happen if you darkened the water? Also the shrubbery on the right is too bright; I would tone that down. It feels like the water is running down on the right a bit, that might be more of an illusion - but you did say that you straightened it. Try Transform in Lightroom and play with it a bit. |

I have never done portrait photography, so I'm learning from other's comments here. I like the dress and blanket behind her; nice complimentary feeling. I own a hat like that, and wish in our Seattle rainy weather in June I needed it! |

Wow, you were almost in the water for the shot, or close to it. Nice work post processing. I think the reflected branch is a bit too bright compared to the one behind Mama duck. I like the way the baby is looking at Mama, and it seems like there is a moment of communication going on there. |

Hey Everyone, thanks for the feedback. I am always looking for fringing in over-sharpened images as tell-tales of a PS application, but in this image I wonder if it is appropriate, since it is backlit? What do you think, should it be naturally there or removed? |

Very fun. I'm inspired to get out my lightbox! How do you stablize your camera above the box to focus directly down? |

Good catch and work on getting the flower seeds to be lightened. They could still use a bit more light. I agree, the sky isn't necessary, the sight of a field like this for a city girl like me is impressive - so many flowers! My sunflower seeds are still green shoots...we need more sun in Seattle. |

Not quite the last in line Valerie! We had quite a month, and just adopted two new 7 week old kittens...keeping us busy. Here is another idea - zoom in on the ring where the hose attaches, and let people wonder what it is at first. Might be a fun way to go. |

Hi Valerie,
This has a lovely texture - I like the almost etching feel of it. Wow you worked hard at post processing. Wonderful scene, great balance of leading lines. I agree with Karl about the two shades of road and demarcation - it splits the image. If you wanted that, leave it, but I might play with making the road one long consistent color too. I"m not sure if I am distracted by the white ?trailer? reflected in the pond - I would remove it I think the subject of the photo is the tree. Death and life is well done in the portrait of this tree. |

Hi May, I think this is very symbolic, and interesting. Interesting is often a word I use when I don't understand much of it. I find it very symbolic that you did not photograph a head...just shoulders and light. Sometimes what psychologists carry is so much in their heads...we have to wonder what is in our hearts, what burdens we carry on our shoulders. |

I don't know what happened, I commented on this photo and it didn't post. Ok, so the silhouette is very interesting - and a little odd to me. I think it is because I am trying to figure out how the light made it happen. Nevertheless, I think I always wondered what lived in those bushes...maybe with the current times I am afraid of my own shadow! I do prefer the color, only because to me color makes it real, but monochrome is the stuff of dreams...I'm curious, how many of photographers dream in color? |
