Hi Ger,
I honestly can't remember what lens I was using at the time and my metadata seems to have disappeared. I think it was probably a Nikon 18 - 120mm zoom. |

Beautiful! Strong, but soft, texture and tones in the fur and nose. And those eyes! As Charles said, so evocative. Darkening the background was a great choice. |

I also like this image and your crop, Charles. However, to me, even though it works well in BW, the conversion appears a little over-processed, giving the sculpture a slightly unreal quality. |

Wow, you've got to love those UK ruins, and your capture of this one is well-timed (I commend you for your patience) and beautifully rendered. You have nice sharpness and texture on the castle while the light and the fog give the image a mystical, ethereal quality. I like Cindy's edit which, I think, puts the castle more strongly as the focus in the frame but I also like your original parameters - your thoughts? Well done. |

Thanks, Charles. TBH, I actually did very little post-processing on this. I had 2 versions in my folder - this one was slightly, but not much, more contrast-y than the other. I think the slight murkiness of the car windshield added another layer, if you will, to the fogginess. And, as I confessed, this is actually a colour image, but I felt the fog desaturated it so completely that it appears monochrome. The Netherlands does a lot of tree-planting along country lanes like this (which they selectively harvest once they reach a certain maturity) and there is often morning fog, particularly in the winter/Spring. I think I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. |

I agree with much of what Charles and Cindy have said. The technical aspects of the image are well handled and the BW conversion helps remove the colour distractions in the original image. From the title, I wouldn't have made any assumptions about the source of her obvious frustration and/or exhaustion. However, the question "Why me?" is intriguing and begs us to put our imaginations to work. Nicely done! |
