50 Dec 24 Reply Thanks, Charles but it didn't occur to me, actually. They are done by an indigenous artist on a bridge that is on unceded indigenous territory. I think I might have tried to lighten them a bit to bring out more detail and make them less silhouetted? Dec 22nd
50 Dec 24 Reply Thanks, Cindy. Happy holidays. Dec 20th
50 Dec 24 Comment Chuck, what a fun image! It took me a few seconds to figure out what it was (before I looked at the title). Nice tones and texture on the carton juxtaposed with the smoothness of the egg shell. Just a thought, but I wonder how it would work to place the egg in a more foreground position in the carton so that the entire background could be the textured cardboard? Very creative use of everyday objects! Dec 16th
50 Dec 24 Comment Cindy, I too like the lines, the lighting and the flag in this scene. I don't know whether a slightly darker exposure or more contrast would give the image a moodier, more "abandoned" feel. You seem to have a knack for sussing out these ghostly, abandoned locations. Well spotted! Dec 16th
50 Dec 24 Comment Charles, I too like the BW version of this. The reflection in his glasses, I think, is what makes the story. I like James' softening treatment of the bright areas. Good job cropping out many of the distracting elements but, if possible, I would like to give the back of his head a little more room. Nicely done! Dec 16th
50 Dec 24 Comment Ger, I agree with everything James has said. A lovely portrait! Just one small thing - on my screen there are a few light spots in the dark background that I would like to see cloned out. Dec 16th
50 Dec 24 Comment James, I love this image, the angle of capture, the square crop, the wispy clouds in the background. The BW is definitely my preference. I like the dark exposure - very moody. Just one small thing - the bright beam in the upper left draws my eye, but nothing overwhelming. Beautifully done! Dec 16th
50 Dec 24 Reply Thanks, James. I like your flip (it seems to often be an issue for me as a lefty, or whatever). I, too, prefer the panorama and the dark area in your version also seems less obtrusive. Dec 14th
