Cindy, I prefer the BW version of this image with your post processing and lovely sky replacement. I, too, like the leading lines provided by the stairway. Your enhanced detail in the BW foliage, I think, makes it much less bulky and distracting. |

Chuck, I don't have a lot to add to what Mary Ann and Cindy have said. I can see why you would not want to crop in much closer, as the branches and rocks add to the image. I prefer the monochrome version of this image but would like to see a little more detail in the dark feathers. |

I think both the monochrome and the colour (if cropped as in the BW) have merit. The final version is quite grainy but, to me, the noise could be seen to fit with the subject. The close crop bringing this guy "into our faces" works well. A fun image! |

Mary Ann, I have to agree that slightly more light (as in Cindy's edit), particularly on the newspaper add more interest and brings out more detail on the french press. Lovely composition and a great choice for monochrome. |

James, I like both versions of this image, but agree that the monochrome brings more emphasis to the shadows, the shapes and the textures. Wow - good cloning job and I think it works not to have that bulky wood in the frame. I think perhaps experimenting with more, or less, at the top on your next shoot. |

Yes, a fun subject but I am not sure the BW conversion does it justice. I, like Mary Ann, prefer the colour image with the red headphones adding interest and humour. Perhaps if you had waited a couple of seconds for the woman on the right to move just beyond the cow's horns into the frame? Other options might be shooting from a different angle, capturing only the statue, not the pedestrians or the newspapers on the ground? |

Cindy, yes I like your crop. I agree about the more modern railings. My thought was about not cutting out any of the boats. But I also think your version centers the reflections more in the frame and results in a more balanced image. Thanks! |
