50 Jan 22 Comment Chuck, I like both the colour and BW versions of this image. Good call cropping down from the top to eliminate the bright upper right corner - I might crop in just a little from the right as well, just for balance. I love the light on the cattails but agree with Mary Ann about toning down the large one a bit. I find the horizontal railing in the background a little distracting but a minor one. Jan 12th
50 Jan 22 Comment Cindy, a strong, imposing image. Good tonal range, moody light and great detail in the foreground and in the sky. An effective camera angle makes it look as if the clouds are exploding out behind the lighthouse. Well done! Jan 12th
50 Jan 22 Comment Mary Ann, I like your BW conversion of this image from the original - bringing out more of the detail in the feathers was a good call while keeping the interesting abstract look of the reflection. I do like Cindy's crop and lighter, more high key look. Jan 12th
50 Jan 22 Comment Paul, for an image practically straight out of your camera, this is well done! You have captured a quiet scene in an interesting, soft light. I like the detail in the water and in the sky but find the bright patches in the sky (at least on my screen) a little blown out. I agree - good use of negative space. Jan 12th
