Yes, I totally agree about the focus - thanks, both of you. |

I understand your desire to include all these beautiful tools in the frame (I remember a similar planer from my grandfather's toolbox as well), but I do like Cindy's suggestion for a crop. I prefer the monochrome to the colour, although, as Cindy also said, a slightly more "antique" colour palette might work. I can imagine a triptych, each image showing a different combination of your subjects, so nothing gets left out. |

Wow - a powerful image, Cindy! Beautiful tonal range with the darkness/moodiness in the sky and the water giving us a strong sense of being there. I like the way you have framed the dark lighthouse perfectly in the light area in the clouds. In spite of the wind, a sharp capture of the waves and the spray - I can almost feel it! |

I think this image works better in monochrome - the bright yellow on the foreground fire fighter's jacket tends to lock our eye in place, whereas in the BW, the water spray takes us right into the centre of the image. Nice tonal range in the BW. I like the interesting touches (the viewers in the background reflecting our gaze and the reflection in the puddle in the bottom right) - great job! |
