Another intriguing capture. I agree with Jeffrey's and Cindy's ideas, cropping some off the bottom. I also really like Jeffrey's version with the blurred background best, as it isolates and highlights the main subject, the trailer (and tires). |

I have to agree - the monochrome works much better. I do like you close crop and the vignette, Karl (it certainly does away with all the busy-ness present in the colour image), but think I prefer Jeffrey's crop. And it is a small detail but I also would clone out that small leaf at the top. |

I like the natural framing as well, but I think the effect actually works better in colour - the foreground branches seem a little dark and imposing in the BW. What does work in monochrome is that beautiful landscape the central tree and its strong shadow, the soft wispy clouds behind it. |

I love this image, Cindy! A very unique concept. It brings to mind all that houndstooth fabric from the 60's and 70's. Like Karl, I find the mesh screen in the background a little strong, but it is the screen that creates such a variety of refractions and reflections in the bottles and on the glass surface. Without it, this would be a very different and, I think, a less intriguing still life. |

Thank you, Lance, for your feedback. I have had a pretty busy month (hence the fact that I just getting to look at our February submissions now), but will have a look at your article and get back to you. Yes, I love a wide angle lens for certain situations - it was the clouds that caught my attention here. |

Yes, I agree that monochrome is the way to go here. I find it so interesting how BW forces us, in a way to focus on different aspects of a scene that those that stand out in colour. I do like Jeff's edits, but prefer your orientation. I find it is often tricky with waterfalls to set a shutter speed that give a sense of motion but does not completely smooth out the flow - you have done an excellent job, I think. |

Thanks so much, Karl. Yes, this landscape does continue south of our border into Washington, Iowa and parts of Montana and North Dakota. Re: configuration, perhaps see my reply to Jeff. |

Thanks, Jeffrey.
It is often a tough call for me. I am left-handed and sometimes find that my perspective/preference is opposite to my right-handed colleagues. Who knows? |
