Chuck, I don't think this image works as well in BW as it does in colour, actually. Your capture of primary hues in the colour version creates interest and guides my eye around the frame with the black train cars forming a rather neutral non-obtrusive background. |

Even though we are often told they do not work, I happen to be a fan of symmetrical captures like this. Cindy, love the tonal range in this image and the way the light, especially from above, brings out the detail in the various arches and corners. |

Karl, I would like to see this beautiful, powerful bird against a softer, perhaps slightly darker background to help it stand out more. |

I agree - the monochrome version is more dynamic, allowing us to focus on the shapes, textures and tones in the overall image. |

This portrait elicits so much more emotion in BW than in colour. The texture of her face, the detail in her hat, her expression and the look in her eyes are so much more compelling in the monochrome version. The BW image makes a beautiful, striking portrait. |

Love this in BW. In the colour version, the red door frame is distracting, but that takes a back seat (so to speak) in the monochrome. So much interesting detail and beautiful tones! |

So sorry, I forgot to include info "about the image"...I shot this fading tulip indoors by natural window light. I was not happy with the background hue in the colour image - converting it to BW that became a non-issue. Nikon D750, 105 mm macro lens, tripod. 0.5 sec at f/16. ISO 100. |
