I once had the opportunity to judge a local photo contest with a world famous Photo Journalist, Tony Spina, Detroit Free Press Photographer. There were several prints where I had suggested cropping. Tony finally asked me if I was a Photo Editor. That's just my way of seeing things.
My first impression when I saw this image was cropping the unnecessary and non-supporting detail and put our beautiful modle in a stronger position. In my cropped version i added some darkening of the sky and foreground with graduated filters in Adobe Camera RAW.

Erik, I've seen this image and several others from this adventure while assisting with your Photoshop issues.
In my humble opinion the image, while being somewhat unusual, lacks some punch. The colors appear muddy and need some contrast. The gray sky just sits there and does nothing. I might add a moon above the boater.
I'm sorry if I seem brutal but it lacks some artistic punch.
Congratulations on your honor of Fellow. It was my honor and privilege as a friend to propose you for that honor. |

Try playing around with a Curves layer. Grab a point and pull it up or down. You can also invert the curve to create a negative effect.

David, Once again you have demonstrated the capability of the iPhone camera. Your technique and camera apps have worked well. I noticed the subtle lightening around the two crosses on the church. I don't know if you're old enough to remember sandwiching Kodalith with color slides to achieve a similar effect. The only thing your composition needs is a full moon in the sky. |

Excellent composition and exposure. I wonder if an HDR technique would have changed to overall appearance. Very nicely done. Personally I may have tried to add some color to the sky for some added punch. As far as detail in the Parliament, have you thought of Topaz Clarity? ...humor. |

Beautiful image. Your National G workshop paid off. The picture is bright where it needs to be at the model and window while the surrounding area is muted with detail to support the image. |

That's our Joe. Always finding the unusual.
Excellent idea. Only one little Nit. I would have done some spot removal in the sky. |
