Thank you Damon, actually the main subject is the cross. I've been dinged for being to dramatic. It's a fine line I'm learning to play with. I'll try a dramatic black and white too. |

I really like the concept - it just feels out of balance because the left side is much brighter that the right. If you are going for a calming minimal feeling it needs balance. I would play around with the cropping down from the top a little and in from the left (to the right of the lens flair). I think there is enough interest in the sky. You could also try using an exposure gradient darkening the left side and cloning out the lens flare. This would keep the arch in the water which adds interest too. Did you use a tripod? |

Change the color of the climbers clothing to bright red And slightly bigger?
When you zoom into the climber is there a lot of details? If there are maybe enlarge a small area with the climber and put it where the climber is, kind of a picture in picture (crazy 🙒). |

Hi John, welcome to the group. I agree with Damon's comments. The cross hatching on the right and left sides has an elliptical shape. Did you have noise reduction turned on (just trying to rule things out)? Also did you edit this as a 16-bit or 8-bit file? JPEG artifacts with low quality? I would check the original raw file to see if the cross hatch is there. At least that will give you a direction to follow. Also I've had weird things happen with lens vibration compensation when using a tripod. If you figure it out let us know. |

Hi Richard, what patience to stay up all night to wait for the clouds to dissipate. Nice capturing the space station. I was thinking since your story is the space station and the Milky Way, I would consider simplifying the image cropping in from the right and left to make it a vertical image. I like the overall soft light levels and pastel colors in the Milky Way - they add to the peacefulness of the image |

Hi Bernie, some things got Dixie's attention. Nice catch light in her eye. The eye(s) make or break a portrait in my opinion and this one is super. The only problem I have is the bottom of Dixie's mouth is the same tone as the background. I would consider cloning some grass there or perhaps it's edited somehow- it just doesn't look right (sorry I'm not a pro at commenting that's for sure!). There is also a black splotch right below her ear I would clone out. I would consider adding a vignette-sometimes a white vignette works better. Dogs are so dang hard to photograph. Cats are even harder. It takes a lot of patience! Nice one. |

What a lovely child! She stands out nicely against the dark red background with her light blue dress and eyes. The back of the chair does draw my attention - with some careful selection you should be able to darken it or clone it out. I suppose that is too obvious;)
It's hard for me to tell if you added a vignette. Perhaps adding a custom one would help darken the chair.
Very captivating photo! |

Hi Jane, must have been pretty cool to watch the rock climbers. I agree with Damon's comments. The repeating Vs bring a harmony to the photo. The climber gets lost. I'm curious if you were to pick a title what would it be?
My eye gets drawn to the highlight on the upper left part of the right peak. |

Hi Dianne, Just wondering what your thoughts are behind this image? What attracted you - why did you shoot it? It's hard to give comments without knowing your intentions.
Thank you! |
