Thanks for the tip - I'll try to watch that youTube video. I love Thomas Heaton. Have you seen the latest one where he trying out a film camera - hilarious (only because it reminded me of the good old days). I'll try cropping it and see - actually I'm attached to the red in the trees that would get cropped out if I cropped the sky. That happens to me and I need someone sometimes to say you know ... (thanks) That was such a hard shot to compose! I wanted to lay my camera on the ground but couldn't because it was too muddy and was trying to hold it just above the ground without falling into the mud myself. :) |

Hi Diane, I like the soft hazy feeling of this beach scene. Nice leading line from the right. The haziness adds a sense of peace for me. I would consider cropping slightly from the top so that your horizon line is not so close to the center. |

Hi Jane, I love these kind of shots and I haven't been as successful as this. I like the tree on the left - I think the branch is nice leading line. Nice processing too. Your're going to hate me for this suggestion - could the sky be a little darker? To me it seems to be competing with the fog a little. Nice sun burst and rays. |

Hi Damon, the bee looks to be very sharp - kind of difficult to get them in motion. I guess you need to take the let them come to you method. Setup on flower and wait for the right subject to come into the photo. There is just the right amount of depth of field where the subjects environment is identifiable but not enough to detract from the subject. I would de-noise this in PS like Jane suggests. Check your boarders - you have a whitish spot on the upper left and the center bottom that could use some darkening. |

Hi Bernie, what a beautiful flower and very well exposed. You have great detail in the whites. One thing you could try is to get a black cardboard (dollar tree has some that may be big enough) or maybe some black cloth and just put it behind the flower. It maybe easier than trying to select the flower and then blur and darken the background using software. Just beautiful... |

Hi Richard,
The way you shot this really draws you in. I've played around with this but not as successful as you. Maybe I'll share a photo I've been working on for a while now. I'm trying to fix it in photoshop. At first I thought this was a photo you manipulated in photoshop. Did you use a neutral density filter or maybe you shot this at night with just ambient lighting? You might consider cropping a little on the right as there is a brighter yellow region that draws my eye. |
