Hi Dianne, nice job for a first time. I agree with most of the comments - moving to the right and showing the man's face. I like the fact that the other rider is looking down at the calf as it leads my eye to where the action is. I though maybe cropping this would help and darkening the upper portions and lightening the calfs and the riders faces would help. Also you have paper white in the hat and shirt of the man. |

Hi Jane, I like the fog and the mood of this photo. Since it was dawn I would expect the sky to be darker. The lighting of the photo now to me seems like just after sunrise. I don't mind the original photo but I like my leading lines from the right (my second language was arabic so I'm slightly different ;) ). I tried to edit it a bit - darkened the sky cropped it slightly, brightened the foreground and lowered the contrast. Burned the trees on the shore. It still needs more work... |

Hi Dianne, thank you so much for your feedback! I guess after everyone of you liked it I will now have to go back and edit this sooner than later. :) |

Hi Jane, thank you so much for you feedback! I will edit this in PS and LR when I get a chance. I have so many shots from this trip that I don't know where to turn.... (a good problem to have). I might just cut back the branches just slightly from the bottom of the boat. It was such a charming surprising find! |

Hi Damon, thank you for your kind comments. I don't know why but I really like this photo. The curves of the stream were impossible to get from the bank (I would have to be in a canoe), but I agree with you as I was hoping for the same thing... I agree with your suggestion to crop up from the bottom and perhaps darken it as well. Thanks again! |

Hi Richard, it was a wonderful drive rain and all! I will try now that I'm home to fix this photo using PS and LR. Maybe I'll post it again. Thank you for your comments! Funny thing is my first digital camera the D5000 has the same resolution as my iPhone X. |

Hi Damon,
I'm sorry your club thought this was ho - hum. I like the detail in the petals especially the white ones - it's so hard to capture all that detail. I find both photos a little soft although the LR one is much better. I've had similar issues - so now I double check my jpg files before submitting them anywhere. Sometimes it's just me forgetting to use the sharpen in LR. I have "jazzed up" plane Jane (if there is such a thing of a beautiful flower) with a spray bottle of water. You'd be amazed - especially with a black background. Also I would consider using focus stacking and moving the camera slightly to the left to show a little more of the outside of the center of the flower without loosing the stamen in the middle. I think that would add more of a three dimensionality to the photo and thus interest to those who say ho-hum... I think this is an excellent first try and I'm being supper picky! |

Hi Richard, I agree with your timing what a wonderful view of the tree. I like your framing of the tree - to the side a bit. I like the sky, although a little more contrast would help bring out the clouds a bit. I would consider bringing down the contrast on the bushes and plants around the tree and bringing up the contrast on the tree and perhaps making it slightly brighter. I think black and white was a good call for this picture.
