Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
5 Aug 20 Comment Hi Bob, another visitor hear but from group 60. What a beautiful subject. The stem and the colors of the flower are just wonderful. I like the bottom part of the stem being slightly lighter than the rest because I think there should be shadow under the flower on the stem. I would darken it but not all the way. Just a nit picking but there is a small highlight that should be darken on the upper right leaf. I don't know why but it draws my eye. Wonderful photo! Aug 27th

60 Aug 20 Reply Hi Lance - thank you so much for your comments. I love black and white as well and will check out some of your images. It's nice to know that you can comment on images from other groups. I've been looking around as I think you can learn a lot by analysing other's images. Aug 27th
60 Aug 20 Reply Thank you for your comments. I think you can get so many impressionistic photos in Death Valley - it's awsome! Aug 27th
60 Aug 20 Reply Thank you for your comments. When I was there I didn't find the colors that I've seen in so many other photos. I wonder if it's because it was after some rain the day before or perhaps the time of day. I love this place, I was only there for a day and a half and got so many photos. Aug 27th

60 Aug 20 Reply Thank you for your comments. Every photographer should make it a point to go to Death Valley - especially in the winter! I'd go back in a heart beat. I hope you get a chance to make it there. Aug 27th

60 Aug 20 Comment Hi Bernie, a hard photo to get the timing just right. I like the way you left room for the bird to fly into. I like the detail of the feathers in his right wing. His left wing seems in an awkward position and to me adds interest. If you brighten the bird a bit and add highlight to its eye it would help the viewer focus more on the bird. To me the birdhouse seems to be more in focus than the bird. I would try to get rid of some of the distractions by cropping from the bottom just above the brand name and the right cutting off that big highlight on the right of the bird hours. Birds are so hard to photograph. The successful bird photographers I've had the opportunity to talk to have taken photos of the same subject for many days sitting still at the spot for many hours waiting for just that right moment. They compose the shot and wait and shoot and wait and shoot. It takes a lot of patience! Aug 4th
60 Aug 20 Comment I like the peaceful serene feeling your photo has. I can just imagine floating on a boat and how restful it would feel. The exposure captures that feeling nicely. I sort of agree with your friend. I think you can slightly crop from the bottom and the left side keeping the same aspect ratio. There would still be many ripples giving the same effect. Actually I think it would accentuate the ripples slightly. I also agree about cloning the smallest boat out and only having 3 boats. Aug 4th
60 Aug 20 Comment Hi Jane, what a wonderful image of Neowise and the Heceta Head light house. I like that your exposure time is perfect, just enough time to give the ever slightest star motion blur (only seen when I zoom in). Since the main subject is not the Big Dipper I think it would be ok to just crop the upper most star to crop some of the sky down and give more attention to the comet. I don't mind the left side being slightly brighter than the right it's just light from the sun scattered in the clouds. Wonderful composition, but the light house seems to be over exposed and no detail of it remains except for the beams of light emanating from it that wouldn't naturally occur on a sunset unless you had lens flare. I was wondering if maybe you had a photo of the light house with less exposure taken the same night so the cloud cover was about the same. Then making a composite of the foreground and the background melding the two just at the cloud cover layer. Clouds are very diverse and I think you could blend the two photos nicely. Aug 4th
60 Aug 20 Comment Very surreal photo. What mood were you going for?
There is beautiful detail in the tree water and the Milky Way. It seems like a moonlit night. I wonder how it would look if the foreground was a little darker? Maybe it would add to a mysterious mood if that's what you are going after. I would try to darken some of the tree roots there is one in particular that is very bright and very distracting. Very wonderful.
