Thanks, Paul. Your eyes are much more sensitive to colors than mine to see such subtle color variations. I trust your judgment. |

Thank you, Mike. I'm not sure what you mean by, "a more active or interesting angle." Can you elaborate a little more? |

This is a lovely scene that doesn't need any color. You might try converting it to black-and-white. It might give the image a more timeless feel. |

This is one of those images that would do well in a "hands" competition. The gesture in the artist's hand tells the whole story. If I were to make any suggestions, it might be to add a slight vignette to the image to keep one's focus on the hand. |

I like the hard-monotone, minimalist feeling of this image with strong contrasting blacks and whites. In fact, I might even prefer keeping the overhang in the upper right as dark as in the original as it nicely frames the subject without pulling your eye into the details of the overhang. |

What an interesting and unique composition for this orchid. I love it! The close up perspective pulls your eye into the detailed patterns of the orchid and brings out the little, black and white hairs on the petal. Very well done! |

I really like this image and how you gave it a high-key look! In fact, I might even darken the subject a bit to give the subject more contrast with the white background. I would also clone out that square box that is cut off on the edge of the upper middle of the image; and the diagonal piece as well. Beautiful! And, welcome to the group. |

I like how you made the bouquet of flowers into a lovely still life. The dahlia, being the center of attention, is surrounded by lighter flowers to give the dahlia a distinct form. If I were to make any suggestions, you might try brightening the dahlia's petal in the shadow on the left side. Actually, it looks like you intentionally darkened them. Maybe it was to give the bouquet some depth? Now that I see the petals lightened in the original, I like your version better. |

Thank you, Maria. I did add some room at the top as shown in my reply to Mark above. I didn't want to focus attention so much on the flower itself. |

Thanks, Dick. Yes, I need to take my polarizer with me when I go out to shoot. In this case, I didn't think it would be necessary because it was in a shaded area. But, I can see how a polarizer might even reduce the glare from the sky with no direct sunlight. |

It seems the consensus is to add a little more room on top and blur or remove the leaf hanging over the flower. I gave it a shot in Photoshop. See revised image above in Mark Bamberger's post. |

I removed the leaf above the flower. Great suggestion! I also expanded the image top and left side using PS's generative expand tool. |

I agree. I should have taken another shot from a little further back. Instead, I used PS Generative Expand tool to do it. |

A wonderful orchid image! Everything is in sharp focus, and the diagonal composition gives the image a dynamic feel. The pure white against the black background makes the orchid jump out of the image. |

What great details in this fern shot! All the little hairs stand out nicely from the dark background. I also like the little fuzzy balls and tiny leaves on the stem. If I were suggest anything, it might be to remove the cut-off, cluster of tiny leaves at the bottom. Beautiful! |

A lovely and simple shot of an orchid. You captured its essence with the important parts in sharp focus. I prefer Original 2 with the slightly darker background as the leaves on the left are a tad bright and pull my eye from the orchid. |

This year, I learned to appreciate the short-lived beauty of crocuses and have been experimenting shooting them in different ways. I like your use of the Lensbaby soft-focus lens and will have to try it next year. I assume you also used a close-up filter or extension tube? Beautiful! |

A lovely shot! The specular highlights are so well controlled from using a poloarizer. And, the single berry seems to have its mouth open as if it were gasping for air in the crowded pack of berries. Did you really use a tripod in a farmer's market? I hope it wasn't too crowded. |
