The ancient Egyptian culture has always fascinated me, even as a boy. I was drawn to the mummies at the museum in Chicago. I've never been to Egypt, and I appreciate your pictures. Your image tells a story about tourists at an ancient site. From that perspective I like the woman in blue and wish she could be the only tourist in the picture. |

Thank you, Robert. I'm not much of a printer, and I don't fully appreciate the subtleties of the different types of paper. Typically, I print color images on a satin paper and B&W images on matte. I never use glossy paper. Occasionally, I use a metallic paper. |

You certainly had wonderful lighting for this shot. The museum does look like an old, battered ship, and its colors work well with the water and sky. I like the way you brought out the wispy clouds and subtle colors in the sky. You were also wise to clone out the crane and poles. A very pleasing image! |

Thank you, Cindy! With the high-key effect, the subtle details in the head of the butterfly and edge of its wings become the focal point. |

I would lighten the yellow parts of the petals even more. I went into Lightroom and used the brush to select only the yellow portions of the upper three petals. I also brushed in the top yellow portion of the two lower petals and increased the saturation in those masked yellow areas. |

A beautiful landscape image with colorful foliage in the foreground and misty, blue mountains in the background. The lower sky looks like it has some color that you might want to darken and saturate to emphasize the horizon. |

You captured a pleasant street scene with the Lisbon castle. However, I'm not sure what your intention was. Did you want to include the people, car and signs to show context? If not, Lightroom and Photoshop have some wonderful tools that can easily select and remove them as well as the wires above. |

Another excellent orchid image! Your post processing to darken the background and eliminate the stick really brings attention to the orchid itself. The orchid is in nice, sharp focus. If I were to make any suggestions, it would be to brighten the yellow in the orchid's top three petals. They seem a tad dingy. |

Yes, good suggestion about more sky on the sides. It might be improved as a square crop. |

Thank you, Dick. Generally, I don't shoot backs of flowers as it seems somewhat gimmicky. In this case, the front of the flower was just pure white, and, although there was good texture, it just didn't work photographically. I liked the complementary green and magenta colors in the back of the flower. |

You have plenty of room to crop with a 45 megapixel sensor! |

Thank you for the suggestion, Maria. I guess I was more focused on the film recipe effect than composition. I'll play with the image from a composition standpoint. |

Thank you, Barbara. "Light and airy," is an accurate description. I'm still learning how to use film recipes for Nikon. I've used them for Fujifilm cameras, but Nikon's recipes aren't as "developed." |

Beautiful dahlia image! All the detail in the yellow petals with the subtle, red tips are sharp. I like the varied shapes of petals and red tips as they add a ton of character to the flower. The overall image is an explosion of color! |

You captured a lovely image of a scabiosa flower with the purple petals sharply contrasting the simple, blurred background. I like that you kept the blurry purple area behind the main subject rather than making the background completely black. Sometimes a completely black background works, but in this case the touch of purple complements the subject nicely. Excellent work! |

A beautifully exposed and composed image of a blanket flower. Your post processing to remove the bright stem and darken the background makes the flower stand out. The center of the flower is sharp. Well done! |

You captured this rose beautifully with all its petals in sharp focus and everything perfectly exposed. I like the tiny bud behind it. Because the background is blurred, it adds a nice softness to the image. If I were to make any suggestions it would be to crop off a little on the right side perhaps making the image a square format. |
