Thank you, Phyllis. I think I need a longer lens. :-) |

Thank you, Bai. You're correct about the nest blending in with the background. In some sense, I like the way the picture shows how the nest is so well camouflaged in the trees. |

Thanks, Ray. I would have cropped it more, too, if I had more pixels. |

Thanks, Cindy. I especially like the story of the mother bird returning to her nest of hungry babies. |

What's remarkable is how the first photographer spotted the nest. The rest of us just followed his directions in finding the nest. |

This is a pleasant, serene scene you can find only in the northeast. I'm sure it would look even more beautiful during the peak fall season. Cropping out the sky brings full attention to the red buildings and the trees starting to turn color. Nicely captured! |

This is quite an unusual image, but I'm not sure what I am looking at or what I should be focusing on. The glass structure and the reflection in it has some interest perhaps as an abstract image. However, the view of the entire structure is a little overwhelming and confusing as an architectural image. Maybe, I'm missing the point. |

You captured the concert very nicely with proper exposure of the band and a silhouetted crowd. You might try cropping a little off the top as there's not a whole lot of interest there. |

You were fortunate to capture an unblemished cone flower hanging out on its own. And, the vignette brings attention to the flower. Nicely done! |

The composition is greatly enhanced with the tree branches in the left foreground and the reflection. The plain, gray sky is a killer though. Have you tried reducing the brightness in the sky to see if there are any clouds that can brought out from the raw file? |

Thank you, Robert. The image is cropped quite severely. I dare not crop it further as the integrity is starting to fall apart already. |

Yes, I agree with you, Ingrid. I did try to make a selection of just the flowers, but it was a little difficult. |

Shirley, you did a fine job toning down the distracting highlights. The tones in the image looks much more consistent. |

Good job masking and selecting the subject from the rest of the image! This was a fun project that I hope we can do again. |

A beautifully transposed graphic image! It certainly has that Andy Warhol look to it! |

Nice job, Linda, in eliminating the background and simplifying it to a solid black. With a black background, I might have added a bit more room on the left. As it is, the petal on the left seems too close to the border. |

Randall, it's amazing how you made an image out of blackness! It must have been at least four stops underexposed! I like your Original 2 image better than the Topaz effect because I prefer the green background. I'm not sure I like those purple streaks. Your treatment of the blown out red areas is quite remarkable. |

Okay, Gene, I'll admit the original image was mine. When I shot this, I was aiming for movement in the image as it was a very windy day. I like how you cropped the image and brought more attention to the dancing flower. After seeing what you did, it encouraged me to play around with it on my own. |

Randall, I enjoyed post-processing your image. Maybe it's my imagination, but there seemed to be a lot of information in the file for a jpeg. Oddly, I found myself taking more risks and experimenting more with your image than I would with my own. I agree blurring the entire background and making it less saturated would add more focus to the lilies. |
