45 Aug 23 Reply Thank you, Phyllis. I think I need a longer lens. :-) Aug 29th
45 Aug 23 Reply Thank you, Bai. You're correct about the nest blending in with the background. In some sense, I like the way the picture shows how the nest is so well camouflaged in the trees. Aug 28th
45 Aug 23 Reply Thanks, Ray. I would have cropped it more, too, if I had more pixels. Aug 28th
45 Aug 23 Comment Thanks, Cindy. I especially like the story of the mother bird returning to her nest of hungry babies. Aug 16th
45 Aug 23 Reply What's remarkable is how the first photographer spotted the nest. The rest of us just followed his directions in finding the nest. Aug 9th
45 Aug 23 Comment This is a pleasant, serene scene you can find only in the northeast. I'm sure it would look even more beautiful during the peak fall season. Cropping out the sky brings full attention to the red buildings and the trees starting to turn color. Nicely captured! Aug 7th
45 Aug 23 Comment This is quite an unusual image, but I'm not sure what I am looking at or what I should be focusing on. The glass structure and the reflection in it has some interest perhaps as an abstract image. However, the view of the entire structure is a little overwhelming and confusing as an architectural image. Maybe, I'm missing the point. Aug 7th
45 Aug 23 Comment You captured the concert very nicely with proper exposure of the band and a silhouetted crowd. You might try cropping a little off the top as there's not a whole lot of interest there. Aug 7th
45 Aug 23 Comment You were fortunate to capture an unblemished cone flower hanging out on its own. And, the vignette brings attention to the flower. Nicely done! Aug 7th
45 Aug 23 Comment The composition is greatly enhanced with the tree branches in the left foreground and the reflection. The plain, gray sky is a killer though. Have you tried reducing the brightness in the sky to see if there are any clouds that can brought out from the raw file? Aug 7th
45 Aug 23 Reply Thank you, Robert. The image is cropped quite severely. I dare not crop it further as the integrity is starting to fall apart already. Aug 7th

61 Aug 23 Reply Yes, I agree with you, Ingrid. I did try to make a selection of just the flowers, but it was a little difficult. Aug 17th
61 Aug 23 Comment Randall, I'm sorry to see you leaving this group. I enjoyed our interactions immensely. Best wishes with your bird group! Aug 6th
61 Aug 23 Comment Shirley, you did a fine job toning down the distracting highlights. The tones in the image looks much more consistent. Aug 6th
61 Aug 23 Comment Good job masking and selecting the subject from the rest of the image! This was a fun project that I hope we can do again. Aug 6th
61 Aug 23 Comment A beautifully transposed graphic image! It certainly has that Andy Warhol look to it! Aug 6th
61 Aug 23 Comment Nice job, Linda, in eliminating the background and simplifying it to a solid black. With a black background, I might have added a bit more room on the left. As it is, the petal on the left seems too close to the border. Aug 6th
61 Aug 23 Comment Randall, it's amazing how you made an image out of blackness! It must have been at least four stops underexposed! I like your Original 2 image better than the Topaz effect because I prefer the green background. I'm not sure I like those purple streaks. Your treatment of the blown out red areas is quite remarkable. Aug 6th
61 Aug 23 Comment Okay, Gene, I'll admit the original image was mine. When I shot this, I was aiming for movement in the image as it was a very windy day. I like how you cropped the image and brought more attention to the dancing flower. After seeing what you did, it encouraged me to play around with it on my own. Aug 6th
61 Aug 23 Reply Randall, I enjoyed post-processing your image. Maybe it's my imagination, but there seemed to be a lot of information in the file for a jpeg. Oddly, I found myself taking more risks and experimenting more with your image than I would with my own. I agree blurring the entire background and making it less saturated would add more focus to the lilies. Aug 6th
