45 Apr 23 Reply Thank you, Phyllis. I need to experiment a little more with the saturation of the clouds. Apr 20th
45 Apr 23 Reply Thank you, Charlie. With all the rain in California lately, the clouds seem more dramatic during sunsets. Apr 20th
45 Apr 23 Reply Thank you, Cindy. I'm glad I took this picture on the first night of my stay. The other sunsets weren't nearly as dramatic. Apr 9th
45 Apr 23 Reply Maybe, maybe not. I remember the sunset being quite spectacular with strong oranges. Perhaps it was the raw capture that created a such a bland image in the original. Apr 9th
45 Apr 23 Comment There is something rather peaceful and serene about this scene. It is almost a black-and-white image except for the patch of blue sky. I like the way the hanging branches in the foreground tree fill in the white patch of sky and are framed by the background line of trees. Apr 8th
45 Apr 23 Reply Thank you, Robert. I revised the image taking into account your comments. I removed the hanging branch and made the image a little less saturated. Apr 8th
45 Apr 23 Comment The wintry night scene in a city park presents a dilemma of nature and man-made artifacts. The beautiful trees and pond seem incongruous with the artificial lights and buildings. The lighting in the sky also seems unnatural. In this context, Cindy's black-and-white version makes a lot of sense. Apr 8th
45 Apr 23 Comment An excellent capture of an old decayed prison! The HDR processing brought out the details of the peeling paint. The red railing nicely leads the eye down the corridor to the window at the rear. I like the image as you processed it, but I couldn't help myself to try out a different version to make the prison look more gloomy and foreboding. I saturated the reds; desaturated the blues, greens and oranges; reduced the highlight in the window; and created a radial gradient to darken the outer portions of the image. Apr 8th
45 Apr 23 Comment What a great scene of a quaint old, fishing village! The view from above especially makes this image a unique and timeless image (or is it "an unique?"). My only suggestion would be to clone out a couple cars that detract from the timelessness of the scene and maybe brighten the whites of the buildings. Apr 8th
45 Apr 23 Comment This is a beautiful capture of a nicely restored auditorium from days past. The colors are spectacular! And, of course, the overall composition was exquisitely framed with a super-wide angle lens. I would suggest correcting the vertical perspective and perhaps cropping out the very top to eliminate the white distractions and so that the curvature of the ceiling ends at the top corners of the image. Apr 8th
45 Apr 23 Comment You were fortunate to capture this image of a Ross's goose even if was walking away from you. At least, you got the head turned so that you can see the eyes and beak clearly. I also like the clean and blurred background. Apr 8th

61 Apr 23 Reply Thank you, Ingrid. Yes, it's such a simple technique, but so difficult to make a good image with! It seems to be one of those techniques that needs the right subject and the right "shoot-through" foreground. Apr 26th
61 Apr 23 Comment This is quite an unusual flower. I agree with Linda that the background is a bit distracting. But, the image does need some background to keep the flower's size in perspective; otherwise, the flower could be 2 centimeters long or 2 meters long. Apr 16th
61 Apr 23 Reply You're right, Linda. The image looks better with the upper part of the crocus darker. And, I hadn't noticed those distractions you removed. It does clean up the image. Apr 16th
61 Apr 23 Comment The black-and-white treatment really works for this image! I like the square crop and the resulting symmetry. Everything is uber sharp, too! Apr 13th
61 Apr 23 Comment What a great wildflower image! The yellow and purple complementary colors work beautifully. The composition is well-thought out with the purple lupine in the power point. It looks like you also might have added a Topaz filter to get an interesting painterly look. Not a "shoot-through" image, but an excellent image nonetheless! Apr 11th
61 Apr 23 Comment An interesting concept of shooting a sunflower immersed in a wine glass of water. I like the effect although I do find the surrounding sunflowers to be a bit distracting. Apr 10th
61 Apr 23 Comment This image has a ghostly atmosphere to it. Fog has a way of transforming a scene into something ethereal. I usually like images shot in fog, but I'm not sure it works in this case. I associate poinsettias with Christmas time and with their bright red color. Maybe the image might be more effective showing only white poinsettias in the fog. Apr 10th
