Thank you, Bai. I like the pollen as well even though I was thinking about cloning them out. |

Thank you for visiting our group and commenting. I could have sworn I replied to your comment a couple days ago, but just noticed it wasn't there. |

With regards to exposure, white balance and composition, I like this image just the way it is. You did a great job balancing the highlights and shadows. The highlights are not blown out, and the shadows are not crushed. If I were to make any suggestions, it would be to darken the orange-ish building and its reflection at the far left. It pulls my attention from the center of the image where all the interest lies. A wonderful blue-hour image! |

Thank you, Phyllis. I'm fortunate to live less than 2 hours away from Longwood Gardens, so I can jump in my car and go there as soon as I hear the blue poppies are opening. Some years they open early in March, and some years, like this year, they open late in March. There is no way to predict exactly when they will open. |

Hmm...I never noticed the ring shadow. I assume you mean the circular shadow on the lower left next to the stamen. I can try to lighten it somewhat, but it really doesn't bother me. |

Wow! These are both great shots. Although I like the landing shot a lot, I prefer the "original" shot more because it shows both birds' heads in profile. I also like the dynamic position of left bird's wings in the "original." My only suggestion in the "original" would be to crop out the stray branches sticking up from the bottom left side. Outstanding images! |

This image makes me wonder what the red structure is. Is it part of a wharf or maybe part of a pagoda in water? It's difficult to tell what I'm looking at without more context. The red color certainly draws my attention, but I'm not sure whether the subject of the photograph is the structure or the reflection? With the top cut off, I'm having a hard time identifying the subject. Maybe, shooting the image in a portrait orientation and including the top of the structure would have been clearer. |

A wonderful scene of a sunset in the city. I like the sparkling building lights that separate the mid-ground from the mountains and add some brightness to balance the bright sun. The trees in the foreground add a nice framing to the scene. Nicely captured! |

You captured the swan nicely under such difficult situations. It's hard not to blow out the white feathers in the daylight, but you got great details in the feathers. However, I like the original image better because the feather details are so much more smoother and natural looking. The enhanced details in the final image make the swan look too crunchy (over-sharpened with too much contrast). I would also suggest de-saturating the swan's neck to get rid of the yellowish tint. |

This is an interesting night scene that you don't see in the our area around Washington DC. You captured the scene well with your exposure, and cloning out the bright distracting street lights was a good decision. I might suggest making the scene a little less warm though. And, from a compositional standpoint, you might try not cropping off so much space at the bottom. |

As I was browsing through this month's images in all the study groups, your image caught my attention...again. I do prefer the color version because it reminds me of a Hokusai print. The crashing wave in the foreground is amazing. However, the B&W version is also a strong image. The contrasting power of the crashing wave against the serene background evokes a strong emotion inside me. I thought the image would show this contrast better if it were cropped to a square format, eliminating some of the sky and the large rocks in the foreground (which pulls my eye from the crashing wave). I added contrast to the image (maybe a little too much on second thought). I also darkened the sky to frame the mountains. |
