Yes, the interesting character from the incense smoke lasts for just a fraction of a second, if at all. I found the best chance of getting a decent smoke image is just when the vertical plume of smoke starts to break up. If you wait too long, the smoke becomes a convoluted mess. |

Yes, I'd be interested to know how yours come out. You never know what you might discover. |

The sky and sunrise lighting are certainly the most interesting part of the image. The stark silhouetted branches and snow bring back memories of those cold winter mornings when I lived in Chicago. To me, the image says, "A cold, still silence with the hope of a warm day." |

Excellent nighttime cityscape shot! The purple and green lights definitely makes this a color image. I wonder if increasing the saturation of the yellow tungsten lights a smidgen would enhance it? I agree that a little perspective control is called for to straighten up the buildings. |

Thank you, Don. I hope you get good results. It does take some patience and a lot of trial and error. Sometimes, it takes 500 shots to get one good image...like birds-in-flight images. |

Wow! I like this image a lot. I, too, am attracted to rust and decay. The lines and texture really make this image, and your positioning of the camera to capture the long hallway through the open doors was perfect. The lighting was also perfect - a nice even lighting without distracting harsh shadows. I can't make any suggestions to improve it. |

This image definitely tells story! The reduction in exposure brought out the fine details of the feathers, although the head still seems a little overexposed and the eye not quite in focus. Maybe a little sharpening of the eye will help. You caught the heron at the precise moment when it was over a clean background, but with the branches still visible and framing the heron. The image was nicely cropped to give the heron space in front to fly in. I might suggest cropping a little more off the top; or level the shoreline. The only other suggestion might be to clone out the branches that touch the heron's rear feathers. They look too much like extra legs. |

Excellent capture with both horses on their hind legs! The side lighting also brings a nice contrast to the image. Your post-processing also greatly enhanced the image by removing distractions of the sky and the large dead branch to one's focus on the two horses (Great job on the branches). My only suggestions would be to crop the image even tighter; perhaps to a square. And, maybe clone out the horse poop! |

A very nice study of contrast in color tonality and texture. The simple, two-color image is striking. And, the smooth texture of the radishes in contrast with the wrinkled leaves complement each other. It's also interesting how the direction of the white radish roots forms a path for the eye to follow. My only minor suggestion would be to darken slightly the two areas of the leaves' underside on the upper left and right to make the tonality closer to the other leaves. It might not be wholly realistic, but it would be less distracting. |
