Hi Peter,
Thanks for you comments and your version of the image. I went back and forth a number of times on how 'crisp' to make the image. I like the upper 2/3 of the image you created but I tried to stay away from increasing the detail in the lower left corner. To my eye, I like the softer look. |

Very nice image Charles. This image really supports the concept that common things look so different when viewed at the macro scale and beyond. I was really taken by the geometric shapes, especially the square one in the center of the image. I am a little surprised there is not more uniformity among the various salt crystals.
The exposure is excellent. Very nice! |

Very nice image Peter. I like the extreme sharpness in the total image. The eye grabs you and the beak shows you the power and strength of the bird.
The only couple of nits I have is that the shadow on the top of the head is a little distracting. I don't think it can be removed in post processing but maybe lighten it up a little. The other nit is that it would have been so much better if the highlight was on the black pupil of the eye instead of 1/16" away. I've tried to shoot birds and animals and that is not easy to do but when it happens it really makes the picture. |
