Abstracts like this from nature are very intriguing and this one works really well. The patterns and swirls capture your eye and provides a lot to look at. I like the monochrome image as well. I agree with Peter that the image looks a little flat to me and I would try to increate the contrast to help it pop a little. Peter's image looks a little 'crunchy' to me so I think it is over processed....possibly need to increase the contrast but keep the noise down at the same time. |

This is a very technically nice abstract image. The lighting and shadows are excellent and give the subject the feeling of great depth and motion. Very nice. |

I really like the bright colors of the image. They are fresh and nicely saturated. I went back and forth about how much of the top should be present or not and I ended up thinking that the amount you've shown is correct. My only little nit is that if you are going to have the subject in the middle of the image then it should be dead on in the center. This one is a little to the right and just seems a little off balance to me. |

I really like the softness of the flower and the subtle colors. I do like Charles's enhancements but to my eye I would also remove the dark 'dead' areas in the upper left and lower right and put the pistils and stamen on the 1/3 point. You know it is a flower and this focuses your attention on the most important part of the flower. I gave it a quick edit to see if you would like it. |

Thanks for your comments. I should have been clearer when I said minimal post processing. I did take the raw image out of the camera and do a white balance adjustment using Nikon's NX-D software based upon a second image with a white card in it. After adjusting the white balance I did a red/blue channel swap in Photoshop. After the channel swap I brought the image into On1 Photo Raw for the final post processing editing. Since the main subject and the background shrubs were all dead I was not expecting very much IR reflection which is why I think it is pretty much a monochrome image. |
