I think this is a very nice image. The main sumflower is on the vertical 1/3 line which gives the image a very nice balance. There is nice separation between the main sunflower and the background. To my eye, the green leaf is handled very well. Enough of the leaf is cut off to make it look like it was done on purpose and not a mistake of having just the tip cut off. Your imagination knows that the rest of the leaf is there. You did a very nice job combining the multiple images. To me this is an excellent image. |

This is a very interesting image to look at because of the textures, reflections and colors. The eye stops and looks at each element and each object is very unique. The downside of this, to my eye, is that their is no main subject...basically, each object is interesting on it's own merits but not tied together.
I will have to get some of the glass you mentioned because I do really like the reflections that it gives. The lighting is excellent and was surprised that it was just ambient lighting. |

This is a very nice image because you can just sit and look at it and let your eye wander and take in all the interesting textures. The lighting you described really is intended to enhance the contrast and textures in the image so I would not artificially introduce softening. To me, that would start to detract from the details in the image. To that end, I would recommend trying to back off some of the blurring your you added into the stem. |

I really like the composition and how the bulb slowly goes out of focus as you into the scene, especially in the reflected image. I agree with Nancy about the green color of the LED's....they really are interesting to look at. To my eye, the white sides are a little blown-out. They do look distracting to me. If they are a polished surface there may not be much that you can do about that either when collecting the image or in post processing. |

I really like the wet texture of the watermelons and the sharp focus, especially in the front piece. I go along with some of the other comments and would emphasize to either include the top of the rind in the back piece or cut more of it off. Right now it looks like a mistake rather than something done on purpose. As Charles said, the white seeds in the front do look blown out and I would try to bring down the highlights and give them some more texture. |

Thanks for the comments.
When I took the picture I had dropped a handful of yarn onto the table and then created the blue loops at the 1/3 positions to have something that would catch your eye. I wanted a place where your eye could rest and be distinct from the background. |

Although the image does look more like a natural color image I can tell that the IR did darken the blue water and add contrast to the clouds. To my eye the clouds and sky seem a little dull...I would try to lighten up the clouds and emphasis the whiteness at the tops of the clouds. |

I also like the composition very much. The two paths with the couple on the left one makes an interesting composition. The focus and DOF is very sharp. Do you remember where you focused and the f/stop? The bright left edge is a little distracting to my eye and could be toned down. |
