Thanks for your comments. I think I introduced the noise by trying to blur the background. As Lisa said, the orange version looks sharper and it is. I used the luminosity mask in ON1 software to create a mask to separate the flower from the background and then used a blur filter to try and soften the background. It probably didn't work as well as it could have. I normally blur out the background for flower images in the camera but with still trying to understand how the IR camera works I didn't do that on this image. I think by adding the blur filter it added noise that I should have removed. I'll know better next time!! |

I like the tight cropping from the original, it focuses our attention on the tension between the water and landscape in the foreground versus the construction.
Doing the white balance in Lightroom may be limiting since it cannot go below 2000K. Try downloading (if you don't have it already) Nikon's NX-D program and use that software to white balance the image. This version is free unlike NX-2. It has much more latitude than Lightroom for white balance modification. |

I like how the monochrome truck is set off by the blue background. The colors in the background are soft so do not compete with the truck.
I might have moved the truck to the right edge so that it was moving into the frame as opposed to being close the left edge and trying to leave the frame. |
