5 May 20 Comment I have been looking for those out at Balcone NWR without success yet. I love your image. Just now getting into bird photography. There is a lot to learn. May 17th
5 May 20 Comment Thank you all. I agree about the headroom.

5 May 20 Comment Richard,
This is a great shot. It is imapactful, creating a sense of excitement. I like the way that the subject is framed by the clouds. The colors are rich, the focus is sharp and the lighting is very good. I like the diagonal orientation in the frame. Job well done. Wish I had been there.

5 May 20 Comment Nick,
You are a wild man! I think that you did a good job compositing the elements but, the lighting on you gave the trick away. You almost had me. Oh, yeah, I forgot about the giant butterfly. Stuff like this is so much fun to make and see. Congratulations on a fertile imagination.

5 May 20 Comment Phil, this works well as a candid photograph. It would take more to make it an environmental portrait. The subject has a great expression and gesture, so the timing is very good. Lighting and focus are excellent. I wouldn't have minded a little less DOF, but that is a personal preference. May 8th
5 May 20 Comment B&W treatment was a good choice for this subject and lighting. The leading line hasn't become cliche for me, yet. You made the best use of it. Richard's suggestion has merit, but obviously requires more coordination. Oversharpened? Yes, I have to agree since it is the first thing that jumps at me. I would try reprocessing it to fix that. 5 May 20 Comment Stephen,

I suppose it's no coincidence, given our proximity, but I was out photographing buntings on the same hike that I took my picture for May. Yours are all much better than mine. I also prefer version 2 although all 3 are excellent. Larry makes a good suggestion. Otherwise, I think there is nothing to improve. Very well done.

5 May 20 Reply We saw a number of painted buntings at Commons Ford Ranch on Saturday. Hike the loop and the buntings are in a field next to a restroom. May 5th
5 May 20 Comment Well lit, tack sharp face, and a very cute subject. The only area that needs improvement is the right border of the dog, as already pointed out. Was the dog extracted from a separate photo? If so, the extraction of the right border needs some refinement. It looks like you did a very good job on the left border. May 5th
