Its good to try something different and I love the textures and the gorgeous pink in this image. I also find your diagonal composition pleasing. I think you could have a lot of fun with some filters and I had a quick play in Topaz - it was amazing how many interesting looks you can get with this image. For my eye the image could be improved by more contrast to add some depth . I think reflective surfaces can be very unforgiving if they are not perfectly clean and find the dusty marks a bit distracting. |

Hi Alison. For me this is a lovely Xmas picture of the boys and all the lights give it a wonderful festive feel. For my eye the faces seem a little flat and perhaps adding some brightness and/or reducing saturation may improve this. One of the difficulties with lights is avoiding the "torch under the chin" look and perhaps another higher light source or having the boys tilt their faces downwards slightly would have reduced the shadows above the cheek bones. I think the white lights top & bottom provide balance and a frame for the subjects. |

Hi Jamie. I find this an interesting abstract image of ice crystals and first thing I noticed was the Mickey Mouse ears! I find the blurred area at the front of the image a little distracting which you might be able to fix with a slightly tighter crop. Additional contrast may add a bit more depth to the image and it also looks like you could have some fun with filters. |

I like what you have done with this flower & think that the black background with the orange bokeh offsets the orange flower nicely, also providing some balance to the image.
I agree that a slightly looser crop may have been more pleasing, so that the centre of the large flower was a bit more in the frame.
Not sure if you use photoshop but I wonder if masking the filter so you can see the stamens would add a little more texture & interest. |

I think this image has impact , the dark helicopter against the pastel coloured smudgy sky, textured by the clouds. The flares add interest & activity too. For me I would prefer to see a bit more of the sea from a compositional perspective. I probably wouldn't have noticed the cloning of the blade unless you pointed it out but once known, it looks a little obvious to me as the edges don't line up.
Nice job, though. |
