Doug, this image definitely causes abstract thoughts, but the white fountain parts just don't flow or gel together to make an abstract. I would try to make the whites darker or change to a color. Some folks always watch "border control" along the edges of the image drawing your eye out of the frame. This image has a large group of distractions and I'm not sure how to correct it because of the large pieces of white. Your group 80 image has a lot of white also but they aren't specifically leading eyes out of the image. |

Thanks for your comments Gunter. Yes, I did focus on more specific spots, but kept coming back to the water channel cutting back to the center. Your edit suggestion seems to suffer from extreme sharpening and it might be because you didn't do it on a raw image. I might try sharpening on the raw image, but like the composition. |

Thanks Karen. Depending on what you call in focus :-). The mini falls in the center is in focus for sure and other areas also. Understand like Gunter says, many areas of interest. |

Ron a great job on getting that beautiful sky/stars. As a lover of vibrant colors I can't complain when someone edits with such vibrant colors. It's just, in my opinion, a little bit too much. But I can be flexible. |

Gunter, this is Great job of working with the translucency and tones of the weeds. Composition is also very good as well as the focus stacking. My only comment is that I think you might of overdone the yellow in the border. |

Great composition to get the eye in center of horn. I do have to question you Karen is there red string or red grass in his month or is that blood and therefore reason why he gave you this last pose? |

Nice seeing Judy. Sharp and well lite. It might work to make an abstract like you do with the staircases. |

Well done Tim. Excellent composition with couple posed beneath art on the wall and the statue. Very good natural light and that 1.8 lens allowed you to hand hold and get the job just like a professional. |

A very nice image Mark with leading lines to the brightest part of the image and fantastic depth of field and toneality. No suggestions on ways to improve. |

Emil, your daisies are well lite, sharp and tightly composed. I might suggest removing via cropping or other tool the out of focus flowers on the far left and top side of the image. They are not adding to the image and distract my eyes from the main subjects. My favorite photog in our local club always mentions "border patrol" for white object that are border the edge or stick through the border. I can't quite tell if your out of focus flowers are living in the border area. No problems at all with your editing the main subjects. Well done. |

Israel. Yes, another PJ winner for you. I know Jerusalem is a large city but you always seem to catch an individual or group in the city and relevant to their location.
No suggestions for changing anything as the young girl is beautifully lite and the subject is clear. Excellent work...Again!! |

Bunny, this is another one of your images that shows great texture, tonality and depth. All of which are handled very well. I do not find an answer to this question that is quite pertinent to my mind. Were in a helicopter, climbed another peak, brought a large ladder or were a good distance away and zoomed in as your image seems to be taken above the black foreground rocks.
Thanks |

Thank you LuAnn. Good to know where you are on the water source. As you can see Pete seems to disagree on this particular image. I have had other water falls where the source is irrelevant and I protested but like flowers and many subjects, judges or commentators will disagree when there is no clear reason to do so. |

Thanks for your comments and your edit LuAnn. I like the crop, however, over the years I've had judges tell me or others that the water image should show where the water is coming from. I think that your crop does not give that information. Perhaps either you and or other DD62 members can share their comments about being the source of the water. |

LuAnn, I like the texture in the building and the grain that has seeped from the siding and adorns the exterior. Nothing against either of you, but I never developed a taste or a liking for grain. I never added it or chose a film to enhance the grain. Always used the slowest film that got the job done. 400 Tri-X or 64 or 100 slide film. Now I'm confused!. Writing about grain on the grain mill or grain in the film can?
Excellent LuAnn, just keep up the great work. |

Oh No, another Street photo from Pete. They are always so good. Perfect catching the expression. If you could see his eyes that might take away from the lack of expression beyond the fact that he's yelling or something else. Seeing his chipped tooth and the dents on his forehead, I might be careful if I was in his line of sight. But professional street guy Pete is just off to the side and probably never in view. Not a thing to suggest changing. |

Thanks Kamal. Actually not very difficult. Take an image that has nice details or color and make a copy and then flip horizontal. Then select both and open as layers in Ps. Go the light blending modes and wait for your new image to pop for you. Not every image will work but many will. |

I agree with you Doug. The crop definitely helped the image. I keep switching back and forth between your edit and my image and I'm not finding what you mean by strengthen the lines (veins?). Probably my short term memory messing with my brain, but what did you do that strengthens? |

Thanks Rich. I value your opinion so I went to check the original and I did not include anything above what is shown. Flipped and the leaves are all upside down. Good example of a shot where including blank space at the top would have helped. But when I shot the image I did not have a plan about making a mirror image. |

Very interesting Doug. I've been out with Charles several times and he does not disappoint with "different" techniques. You picked a perfect flower, because the soft velvet like transparent petals are fantastic with this lens? Not a lot written up about it or photos taken with it, but it certainly has possibilities. Was this shot over a lightpad? |

Well Rich, I have to give you a 9++ score on this image. All appears sharp and well exposed and it has fantastic impact and attention grabbing power. Maybe you see some small imperfections but they are not evident and I have no suggestions, other than to raise more of them and sell them. A striking beauty it is.

Thanks for the timely entry Kamal. Great focus on this image. I appreciate the work you put in to make the image. However, I do feel you missed 2 opportunities to bring this image over the top. One would be to lighten the center of the flower by masking the center or lightening up the center. Another method would be to go thru the same steps in editing the background but leaving the flower in color. In my mind the light center is what draws my eye into the image. |

Nadia, this certainly is a dynamic beautiful Dahlia both in Mono and color. I think I would of tried to make my final using the color, but I'm seeing you being drawn to use a Mono version because of the tones you were able to bring to the mono image wouldn't work with the color image. My only nit would be to use one of the PS tools to remove/or darken the light bud in the lower right and see if the bud on the left side could be eliminated. I don't feel that they add to the image. A Fantastic job. |

Jacob, I like the back light coming thru the upper pedals and think I might of liked it better if you could have raided the flower t light the flower more evenly. The center of the flower could have used a radial filter to lighten the center. Other than a little cropping I think editing some of the distractions in the background could improve your image. |
