29 Apr 23 Comment Gunter I understand your point, but part of DD, I think, is to present something different and discuss the positives and negatives. I appreciate your comments. Apr 20th
29 Apr 23 Comment Thanks Gunter,Judy and Tim. Sorry for not giving a little back story on this image. I was sitting on my outside photo bench with my 200-500 lens at 500mm and focusing on various flowers that fall within that range and one of the butterflies flying around my garden came into my viewfinder to land on the flower that I had selected for side light and a soft background. It was an unseen moment at least for me as I had not stopped butterfly action before where the body of the butterfly was in the infocus plane and the wing motion wasn't sharp because the 1/800 sec was not fast enough to stop the action. No special editing was done, no compositing, and no intentions to move or change the position of the butterfly. And yes I have tried using sequential multiple exposures and I have had more failures than successes. But here is a fraction of a second later. Not as sharp & not as unusual as the other. That's nature. Apr 19th

62 Apr 23 Comment Thanks Mark. Yes the color version is beautiful, but, many of my black and white flowers looked better in color. But I need to provide big cheese 62 a black and white version every month. :-] Apr 24th
62 Apr 23 Reply Thanks LuAnn. Yes, Spring and Summer arrived last week and it has been very enjoyable. We lost the last 18" of snow leaving some yard cleanup to get done. I'm going to test that golden spiral crop tool. I know it is there but have never used it. Will need to check out a video as I'm sorry to say I don't see a difference in the crop vs Bunny's, My crop or your golden spiral. You are correct, it's all about the raindrops. I'll re look at these after lunch.

62 Apr 23 Reply Hi Pete. An excellent idea. I often forget to use that content aware fill on an image that needs a little more real estate Apr 17th
62 Apr 23 Reply Thanks Emil Apr 17th
62 Apr 23 Reply Thanks Bunny, A great idea and execution of using the refine mask in Topaz Sharpening. Apr 17th
62 Apr 23 Reply Pete, this is sorta what I saw for an interesting detail, but Topaz was NOT really good at taking a 136x181 .jpg image and making it look beautiful at 781x1040. You could do it perhaps with the Raw image but would have been easier and better if shot at 70mm or a longer lens. Film is cheap nowadays, thing isolate and simplify.
I know easier to think about these after you've driven away. Maybe drive by again.

62 Apr 23 Reply I think that improves the image a lot. I recently attended a Zoom with Tony Sweet and he kept showing us images and asking what is the subject and in this case it's the house with vines. Out building and other half of the tree won't be missed. Can't
easily isolate the house from the tree and the dark of the tree brings the eye back into the house.

62 Apr 23 Comment Hi Pete, I like your subject, the old house and would have stopped myself. However, I'm thinking I would ultimately crop out either the out building or the tree. The area to the right of the tree definitely needs to be cropped. It shows nothing and causes my eye to go that bright area. I find the left dormer and vine with resulting shadow on the roof to be most interesting and will try to visually offer that story. Apr 2nd
62 Apr 23 Comment Great to sewwqqsddwdwwdwdweeze you back LuAnn. Another one of your minimalistic images. Not simple setup I'm sure, you needed to arrange everything so the light from the window was just right to create the strong silhouette of the base of the arm. That's what I remember seeing first and then the name of the "needle" and the groves in the vinyl. All done perfectly and your reflective border is also perfect. Can't think of any change or improvement. Apr 2nd
62 Apr 23 Comment Well Mister Photojournalist Israel. Just another example how you seem to find these events that only last for a short period of time. You are patient and prepared to capture the action when it happens. It's beyond Luck by this time because your "luck" seems to happen way to often. Your timing to capture the motorcycles (a lucky odd number of 3) at the best spot before they go around the corner. The light lines along the road lead the eye into the back of the image. Editing is fine but doesn't really matter because the composition is so compelling. Apr 2nd
62 Apr 23 Comment I too am amazed by this capture. I wasn't expecting these gracious slopes and mounds. I admit to never looking at all of Antartica (like it may of been possible) but I would have expected the sharper (steep angled) and different tones of the geography. I like your composition with the smaller mounds in the foreground with the tiny dark crevice leading my eye into brightest area and the higher mound with black top. I do like the darker sky that Pete was able to achieve. A look at the original and shows me that you accomplished all of that in post. Fantastic seeing and editing. Apr 2nd

80 Apr 23 Reply Kamal. Thanks for all the comments you posted today. Apr 22nd
80 Apr 23 Reply Thanks Doug. I appreciate your comments. My thought is that a clean image should get that type of crop but my thinking was that this shot in the wild would suffer from details I was hiding with the liquid lines and the wider composition. Apr 21st
80 Apr 23 Comment I like your composition and colors on this image. A fantastic job of capturing all the detailed pollen and the curves of this flowers sexual parts. Well done. Apr 9th
80 Apr 23 Comment Kathryn, a great use of textures and layers to get your desired effect. I have no problems with your soft flowers around the bee. I might of also used a higher Iso to increase the f-stop and softened the flowers more if needed. I would prefer the shot be taken more from the front so to capture both eyes and increase separation between the bee and the background.

80 Apr 23 Comment Syed, A capture and composition that you can work with. I feel the 3 flowers on the left side of center are the subject. The 2 out of focus flowers on the right and the distracting bright background do not add to the image. If I'm correct the CS6 software you are using does not have the features of the current Ps or LrC where you can have the subject or object selected and masks created to enhance for exposure, sharpness and many other factors. Monthly subscription of $9.99 removes the sting of their expensive software. Apr 9th
80 Apr 23 Comment A beautiful flower Nadia and good editing to darken the background. I do have to mention that the buds above the flower could have been removed in Ps content aware or at the very least darkened. The beautiful center of the flower is sharp and interesting. Also this might of been the flower to use substantial cropping on to eliminate practically all of the background. Apr 9th
80 Apr 23 Comment Jacob, yes, sometimes it pays to convert to B&W to remove distractions. Good seeing. Good detail in the large leaves, but the front and lower seem to be soft. Not sure if that was your intention or iPhone focused on the large leaves and didn't focus on the foreground. Apr 9th
