Israel. I'm one of those that really like the texture on the mountain, buildings and tree. The shadow of the tree leads your eye to the cowboy, but I feel Pete's rendition was most successful in bringing out the texture and lighting of the cowboy. I had to zoom in as the model had no head, then I realized the hat and position completely made him unrecognizable. Israel, I'm not sure that the gaussian blur filter helped your image. The clouds definitely brought interest into the sky. |

Bunny, you've created a beautiful and historic image here. The IOWA is the best of its class. Yes, the sky adds a lot to your image. Well done. |

Mark, this is a fantastic job of seeing and editing to bring out the best in the image. Your image above is heads and shoulders above the normal color or black and white image. No suggestions except to give us some hints how you got this result.

A beautiful flower image LuAnn. I have no concerns with your cropping, especially with the black background as it brings the viewers eyes into the subject which is the center of the flower. Beautifully exposed and love the texture and smell of these flowers. I'm thinking that you shot the image from a further distance and therefore had a better DOF. Yes, and I also like the Silver toning. Well done. |

A very nice image Pete. I Love the effects of the slow exposure and the light streaks in the water as well as the location and enhanced composition the branch brings to the image. The pelican is well exposed and placed. I do wonder if there would have been a shadow over the water? |

Thanks Mike. I agree, yes it crowds the head a bit, but I felt the colors and textures of the head in the original image removed that compositional concern. Thank you for your comments. |

Hi Emil. As noted above I agree with the idea of darkening those white feathers in the background. Thank you.

Thanks Pete for your comments and editing. I have to admit that I had virtually no time to edit this old bird. Your crop does place the eye in a more appealing area but you cut part of the head and the lower part of his snood. I agree with Emil's idea of darkening the feathers behind and to the upper right of the head. I do like your edits darkening the bumps and folds in the red colors of the original image. |

Thanks LuAnn for your comments. These guys do have plenty of texture.
My move is far from over. Movers come Tuesday to finish off the move out of VA. I'll be an iPad user for an unknown amount of time. We're renting a condo in NH for Jan-Mar after which we should be able to occupy the house we purchased in NH. The delay is because the sellers are building a new home and would you believe constructions delays and supply chain issues. We will be reimbursed for the inconvenience but that's what we needed to do to have our offer accepted. Hopefully most things will calm down once we are settled in the temporary condo. Have a Merry Christmas. |
