29 Feb 22 Comment Here is the original of my February submission. Sunrise provided the light to the glass in door. Experiment and try again and then Wow some images work and some do not. I'll answer any questions you might have. Feb 19th
29 Feb 22 Reply The sun provided the Light. I'll be posting the original. Feb 19th
29 Feb 22 Comment Gunter, I'll double check my sent mail, but think I sent original to you a few weeks ago. You might of tossed it because it doesn't look remotely like the end result. Stay tuned. Feb 19th
29 Feb 22 Reply I understand how we all see the same scene differently. To each their own is the rule for the day/year/century. I can accept Karen's "more pink" version but I tried to stay with your colors and toning, especially in the grass of the scene. Feb 18th
29 Feb 22 Comment Hopefully I didn't burst good vibes you had with the image. I use a 27" monitor and it picks up many details that folks didn't see. Work on a killer image for next month. I look forward to seeing it. Feb 17th
29 Feb 22 Comment Thanks Karen. Yes, really cool to see the results after using some of these filters. Feb 17th
29 Feb 22 Comment Maybe you want to Fix it and send new 2nd original. Feb 15th
29 Feb 22 Comment Hi Karen. A nice rack on that elk. I'm afraid something went wrong with the post processing. All along the top edge there are artifacts generated as you attempted to remove something? Something even caused the right antler to become transparent. I had that camera and lens combo and therefore believe problem generated in the post. Hate to see a good wildlife shot and post caused problems. Do you use Lightroom? If So I recommend "reset" and use Ps content aware fill. Feb 15th
29 Feb 22 Comment Thanks for submitting an image from a Virginia location that I have not been to. I like the rolling hills and the lines in the grass from haying equipment help bring my eyes into the scene and the beautiful blue sky and wonderful cloud do not disappoint. I think I would of moved to the right or zoom in more to get grip of the tree with vines in the left side of the frame. A move to the right could bring the hay bale on the left mound into the image. I run into those trees with vines to often and they are dense enough to take away the lines of the tree. Good seeing. Feb 15th
29 Feb 22 Comment Gunter, yes those old images offer surprises when processed in current software. Yes I Love the colors in the sky, fields and mountains. My style might even include opening up the shadows and adjusting clarity and dehaze in the image to saturate the colors of the clouds and the blue sky. Or use Precise detail and contrast in Topaz. Your composition is very nice with the roads? trees, field and mountains all bringing your eyes into the colorful sunset. I've tried to show you but the Psa sized jpeg's always look not up as good as the originals. I also noted that you are using the old standard size ie: 1024 x606 where you can use the new size of 1400x1050. I use a larger size monitor and the detail gets lost when editing Psa jpegs. Did you shoot this in raw back in 2007? I know you may cringe at my colors the image in my mind is worth enhancing. I also use Topaz Gigapixel and sharpen but that's a waste when exported out to less than 1000k. Yes, I upsized your image to the newer allowed size. Feb 5th
29 Feb 22 Comment Hi Tim. This is my walk around lens also and I bet I use it for 70% of my shots. I like your image and might be able to offer a suggestion or two to improve. The people and dogs and patterns from the sea all enhance the foreground. I also like the patterned sand in the foreground but think the image would be better if the bottom inch was cropped out. Its distracting and the crop will also make the figures more prominent. I like the rays but not St Michaels Mount in the shade. If you added the rays (because I don't see quite enough clouds) I would try to crop out much of the sky and really open the darks or do a sky swap. I'm wondering if you used the Lightroom or Ps to select the Mount and open up the shadows and increase exposure on the right side of the Mount and increase details/clarity at the Mount if that would give the treatment you desire? Hope this helps. Feb 5th

62 Feb 22 Comment Thanks LuAnn. It's more fun when I learn by trial and see the results pop out vs frustration that comes from following instructions and settings. That's why the abstracts have become such an interest to me. Just need the basic ideas how to use a feature or filter and it works or it doesn't. I'm also in process of finalizing abstracts for this exhibit. Entered last year and no acceptances. Have my mind set to get accepted this year. I have made over 500 abstracts since this time last year, and many don't come up to the acceptances that they show on their web page.

Warning it is easy to get stuck in the proverbial rabbit hole making these things. Yes, I am entering my railway/subway car in color. Thank you for all your previous support and ideas.

62 Feb 22 Reply Hi LuAnn. Thank you for the suggested edits and methods. From what I can gather, my Nik Collection is series 2 and I cannot find the plugins on any of my drives, so I've signed up for a trial but not sure when I'll find time to learn Nik. I'm still trying to learn Ps. Just this afternoon I managed to align 4 image layers and blend them to replace a Helicon Focus edit that I did on an image from 2008 and had gone wonky during the last 15 years. I'll let you know if I get to try that Robin Whalley methods.
Thanks again

62 Feb 22 Reply Emil, that is an excellent fix and hopefully it was a reasonable suggestion. Just goes to show that we can work on our images and overlook distractions. Feb 4th
62 Feb 22 Reply I understand and agree. Perhaps I should not do the editing on the submitted image until the day of submittal, but that causes more procrastination.

62 Feb 22 Comment Hi Israel. Another great image. Caught at the peak of action with their front feet crossed and kicking up the dust. Personally I'd go between your version and Emil's. Basically on the upper bodies/heads of the Zebras and like Emil wrote, dropping the exposure in the invert of the subject area. I'd be very happy with this image if it was mine. Feb 3rd
62 Feb 22 Comment Bunny, your attention to details and the beautifying of your exquisite piano. (It looks brand new and never used). I only wished I could remember all of the edits I did on each image. I make notes in keywords but sometimes I forget between the develop and library image. I can't think of anything needing to be done. Excellent. Feb 3rd
62 Feb 22 Comment Emil, I like your composition and details of the light, grill and the bumper. The only small nit I have are the reflections from windows and ?? on the center left side of the light. Probably no amount of content aware could remove those from the curves and ridges over the length of the headlight. Feb 3rd
62 Feb 22 Comment Hi LuAnn. I think this is a beautiful image is very powerful and has as much impact as possible for a black and white image. Bright whites and dark blacks and the perfect reflection is awesome. It makes the image really standout. Sorry, your recent work has left me behind the cloud and I'm unable to offer suggestions, on table tops, framing and exhibits, all of which I don't do. Just FANTASTIC. Keep it Up. You've got a couple of months more of that MN winter. Feb 3rd
62 Feb 22 Comment Pete, I love the sky in this image and I believe that Emil's version gives a more accurate rendering of the "Lights" in the image. I don't think his version looks overly manipulated, but I do feel that your histogram may be down around the half way mark. It's been a while but I think that east side of the building in quite white in the morning light. Your metadata seems to indicate that you had plenty of light. From your color version you seem to visited in the afternoon and Emil visited in the AM. See no manipulation. I'm unfamiliar with the dark stone object in the foreground but think that may be the new visitor center with a water feature on top. I also like your reflections of the columns. Feb 3rd
62 Feb 22 Comment Thanks Pete. You are correct in that the light was peaking thru a crack in the clouds. That crack would of been to the left in the image. I agree that my trees might of been too bright but I think the ground beneath the trees on the left is too dark and folks will say to open up those shadows. Another detail is my eye is now drawn to the opening in the sky behind the mountain and I felt it should be drawn to the trees. In reality the trees were brighter than that opening in the clouds.
