Hi Bob. Fantastic to have you back on the PSA DD's. I really like the edits (particularly the flipping to reposition the center of interest) you did to my image. I've used your ideas but not all of your methods. I'm not a Ps user and I don't think Ps was necessary to accomplish the effects so I did it my way. In LrC I created a virtual copy of my submitted image, I flipped vertically and then flipped horizontally. Cropped, and used Color grading wheels- HiLights and MidTones and added a bit of texture and clarity and here it is. Your ideas and my editing. Of course this is one of those images where its very difficult to duplicate. Your thoughts?

We've all done it. Just didn't see an obvious distraction until we were post processing. Hopefully you can try another clone or heal to make a better repair to this beautiful image. |

What a great image Bill. Unusual lighthouse and you picked an eye catching sky to put into the image. However, I do see a issue in the grass in front of the stairs. Looks like you took out a picnic table (center) and the grass is not natural in that area and the stairs the right and left balusters don't match. Were you unable to clone out the table? On my large monitor I can see what looks like the cross braces on the right side of the table. If that area can't be fixed then maybe a hi crop would do. I've not yet been able to master the content aware filter to replace a large object that isn't isolated. Such a beautiful lighthouse and sky that the image IS definitely worth fixing. If I'm wrong Just give me heck for seeing things not there and I'll apologize and mind my manners. |

Karen you captured the peak of action and the beautiful colors of this duck. I like the fact that you captured a good catch light in her eye and a non distracting background. You did a great job and prove that it's best to be always prepared for action. Well done. |

Hi Judy, I think this hat works well when isolated as the subject. The red ribbon and pink flowers work well with the straw color and green background. I also like the details in the dark paneling behind. Only nit I have is the "light" line that runs between the 2 ribbons . Perhaps that could be cloned? |

Tim, I'm also compelled to find images with water in them. I like the foggy atmosphere and the ripples in the water. If I might offer a thought? The estate across the river is not adding as much as I would like to see in the image. No colors to enhance your reflections and it is dead center in the image. What about cropping above the trees on the top and cropping out the bright field and building on the right. I think that brightest part of the image causes my eyes to go to the right, but I do not think that was your intent? |

Thanks Tim. Abstract or near Abstract images are like that. You either favor them or you don't. I also like the fine lines that the milkweed seed pods have. |

Thanks Bunny. Actually, I've been recently using a system where I make a screen shot before accepting the final where it shows a history of the filters and looks. After accepting, I enter a brief keyword in LrC ie: Topaz Swirl Expressionism or whatever I used, not all the details but just someplace for me to start. The advantage of keyword is ease of assigning keywords for new images and easily searchable. Also, I virtually never change the unique file names as each camera I've had over last 19 years has 3 digit alpha/numeric followed by 4 digit number. Never confusion as to which camera and it always allows me to search the hard drive using finder for other images taken on or around the image time. No spreadsheet, keywords work, I also use "creative" keyword for most Topaz edits so I can pull all up together. I've been trashing the screenshots after entering keywords. Maybe some part of this will help you manage your images. BTW only my iPhone pics have IMG prefix. |

Israel, you have a string of being in the right place at the right time and you walked away with the best image. Face it, you are the best. I call this a photojournalistic image because you caught the exact moment of the communication between the two. The background desert serves as a natural environment for the camel and the two bicyclists on the country road place them in proper context. All it needed was the link/communication between the two and WOW you captured it. Well done. |

Well done Bunny. A great story teller you are and very nice to include with many of your images. The image as shown is beautiful. As a small nit, I also think you should leave a little bit more of space in front of the foremost 3 steps and double the space above the structure. I also would of tried bringing the dehaze filter down below 0 to see if that added some atmosphere to the trees without taking away from the textures in other parts of the image. |

Very nice composition and seeing that light streak and shadows shows you have a trained eye and trigger finger. I prefer the versions with contrasted column of bricks and I'm good with the toning in the wall and split tones of the door. Well done. |

Another great Baltimore image. I think you are an expert street photographer and you bring out the photogenic qualities of these subjects and best qualities of citizens like yourself that help those in need.
I find no faults or edits that I could suggest to further enhance this image. Perfect 10. |

Thank you everyone for your positive comments and thoughts. I'm sorry, but I cannot reconstruct the image as shown. Over the last year I have started to make notes in LrC keywords to give me better guidance as to what I did. Just Topaz is inadequate as I might of used BW filter sliders, precision contrast and precision details. I also often use the tone curves in LrC. I was able to make the details better, but I'm unable to recreate the silver/metallic look. I guess the lesson is this unique image cannot easily or ever be recreated. I tend to make some images late in the evening while listening to"new-age" music and picking images that would otherwise be put into the trash. Opening up the filters in Topaz before hitting accept does show the slider numbers but that won't work as an afterthought and my aging brain doesn't have a clue. It is nice that it is accepted as is. |

Emil, I find this image to be fantastic. I love the tangled driftwood in the foreground and the lighted dune tops with beautiful natural textures leading my eye to the top right. I agree with Pete's comment on the featureless sky, however, I probably would of tried inserting some subtle clouds to not disturb the barren scene you have created. An excellent composition. |
