15 Nov 20 Reply Thanks Linda. These Ginkgo trees are only about 30-40 feet tall and they are pretty sparse at the top. In fact you can see traces of blue from the sky creep into the frame. On images where I went higher the bright blues & whites at the top of the frame we very distracting. I cloned them out, but in the end the images that didn't go up higher were better. Also that would require a longer exposure and I wanted to maintain the tree trunks and yellow streaks in straight lines. Nov 25th
15 Nov 20 Reply Thanks Joan. Yes, I have seen shows and webinars from Freeman and Andre. I don't often use it, but this grove of equally spaced Ginkgo trees and consistent colors brought those images from those iconic photographers to my brain. Nov 25th
15 Nov 20 Comment Thanks Jeri. You aren't the only one to think about the tree trunks in water. Even my wife you stood next to me while I was moving the camera all around remarked that it look like trees in water when she saw the image. I love it for exactly that mystery feature. Nov 21st
15 Nov 20 Comment Ohhh. I didn't see anything about Halloween makeup. I thought it was a lighting or post processing issue. I'm just not the guy that can comment on this kind of lighting, makeup and pose. How about that beautiful Norway landscapes :-).

15 Nov 20 Comment Kirsti, PSA may of resized as the max height is 1050 pix and the max width is 1400.
The vertical compositions definitely end up being smaller than the landscape measurements. The new versions at least arrived so that I'm able to say they are sharper. But there still is a dark gray shadow or something that makes it look like the model has a black eye. I'm sorry, but I can't get excited about this image.
Honest. Bob

15 Nov 20 Comment Thanks Kirsti for the positive comments. I agree with that minor adjustment that I had missed, although it depends on which tree you choose to be the straightest. There's no easy way to determine. Nov 16th
15 Nov 20 Comment Hi Kirsti. Something went wrong with your export. Original is only 24k when I tried to download. I was trying to checkout the ladies eye. Suggest you check your settings and try exporting again. What program are you using to export?

15 Nov 20 Comment Joan, thanks for the "about" as this East Coast guy has never seen anything like this and my first impression was you had painted everything. Are the rocks painted blue and red? Now on to the image, the PP that you did would of made the image better. Not sure if it would work, but I think the right edge should have more exposure. When l did a Google on limpets, most images have 1 or several of the same type and in most cases in shells. Sorry, I think you tried to incorporate too many of them under harsh lighting. Nov 13th
15 Nov 20 Comment Very Creative Rick. Great composition with leads lines and interesting texture and colors. Even knowing the software you used and the subjects of the two images, I could not begin to compose and construct such and interesting image. Nov 12th
15 Nov 20 Comment Jeri, but why couldn't you crop that top green in a matter of seconds? Unfortunately the left side was cropped too much in post or when taking the image. I might of also used a clone on the white cotton to make it consistent all around. The final image is yelling to be placed in a square format. Perhaps you should of composed from a slightly further distance to along the crops needed. Nov 12th
15 Nov 20 Comment I like your 3's David. Not only 3 windows, but 3 panes across each window. Great timing with the sunlight illuminating the windows and frames. You did well to compose without chopping the red boat in the center window. Red from Motif can't really be enhanced much because of the side lighting. It might not win in a general category, but it will do very good considering your Things of 3's category. I would of tried to enhance the shadows of everything and cutting highlights with hopes of bringing more color to the blue building, motif and window frames. Very good find. Nov 12th

29 Nov 20 Reply Okay Karen. That's the second image that you have added something that appeared to be missing in the image posted. Perhaps you have access to the original? I agree with your suggestions, I'm just not sure how you uncovered the tail fin. An Excellent photo Stephan. 35mm. they were tightly close? I Love the reflection at the top surface. Nov 12th
29 Nov 20 Comment Good exposure Bill, Not sure if it was possible, but I right of taken a step or two to the right and composed without the white daisies the lower right and f/11 would of given you more depth of field. Nov 12th
29 Nov 20 Comment A good find Karen. Well exposed, too bad you didn't have enough time to wait for Babe to stick his head above the obstructing grass. D750 and 200-500 work very well together. Nov 12th
29 Nov 20 Comment Thanks Karen these suggestions work for me. Cloudy sunrises or I slept too late, but the wind came along and blew everything but dull leaves down. Nov 12th

62 Nov 20 Comment Israel. What a Fantastic job you did with this project. Posed to action, smiles to game faces. These men are not actors, they are the real deals and by the smiles on their faces I can tell that they were most appreciate of you taking the photos. Perfect flat lighting for this type of work, great exposure & or your PP, I have a lot more respect for you as a photojournalist, as I had not seen this type of work by you.
You should be so proud of this work.
Best Wishes

62 Nov 20 Comment Pete, A very interesting image. A closeup handheld. I agree that the BW version hides the DOF challenges in the image. I like the composition and wish our lilies would stay upright vs flopping over towards the ground. I have to be a contrarian in that the color image appears more to me because of the colors present and unseen. I would of opened up the shadows on the purple petals and tried to enhance those background colors from another flower? You did a very good job on the BW and I have no suggestions on how to improve it.

62 Nov 20 Reply Israel, A beautiful fun image of old equipment and kudos to the artist that did the art painting and flag decorating. I'm not bothered about the space in front of the "roller" and think that the cropping/composition if perfect. I do agree with the increased exposure, especially in the shadows. I would also suggest increasing the textures and clarity to bring out the details on the front (ie: name plate area). Sorry, can't comment on your Facebook images. I'm not on Facebook. Nov 11th
62 Nov 20 Reply Excellent find Leah. Such wonderful texture, tones and composition. The lighter tones on the upside down"U" latch is perfect. A collectible image for sure. Nov 11th
62 Nov 20 Reply Emil, I really love the composition of your truck grill and headlight. I often only include 1 headlight in my older cars. The brightness of the light always draws the viewer into the composition. This truck has fantastic texture and I would of pumped up the texture and clarity to bring those details out as much as possible. I think Pete was able to bring that texture out better in his rendering. I do prefer your gray toning versus Pete's. A Very Nice image. Nov 11th
62 Nov 20 Comment Very nice LuAnn. I'm sorry for coming to the party late. I caused a big problem with my LrC and have bee working to repair for last week. Now your image, I agree with Oliver's cropping. I definitely like the peeling paint, the rust on the lock and the texture created by the galvanized metal and the spider web. I thought about the hi lights in the background and I might of tried to tone down the brightness, but I'm not trying it and it isn't very distracting. Since the subject is dark, I might of tried to brighten up the background and evening out the background, or slipped in a rusty texture. Now I did it, I can hear you yelling at me now. You probably won't accept that. I wonder what might of caused that lighter area. Light grass or snow in the distance? I know your editing was limited by only having a jpg image. Thanks for contributing a very fine image. Nov 11th
62 Nov 20 Reply Thanks for all those nice words and thoughts LuAnn. Nope D200 was traded a long time ago. Traded up to D300, then 300s and then D750 in 2015 and now shooting with D780. The crane is my kind of image black blacks with texture and a story to tell. Sorry, no way to reconstruct my brain from 15 years ago. Thank goodness that the digital files have recorded other details. Nov 10th
62 Nov 20 Reply Thanks Emil. Nov 10th
