Adrian, Glad you like it. Do you use Lightroom? I did most of the editing in Lightroom. I used the masking tool to select background and then lowered the exposure by moving the exposure slider to the left and then reduced the clarity by sliding the clarity slider to the left. If you use Lightroom, to jump into PS, you go up to the edit menu and click on edit in PS. If you are familiar with the cropping tool, you can then crop the image and at the top menu bar, click on the Content Aware button. If you crop it to be larger, you will see a white area around the image. When you click on the checkmark on the top menu bar, PS magically grabs pixels from your surrounding image and you then have the crop you wanted! It's a cool feature. It does not always work but when it does, it's really magical! |

Isaac, I added a bit to the right in PS using Content Aware. Your thoughts? |

Isaac, I ordered it about 10 hours after the announcement came out. The funny thing was that one of my friends ordered it 5 minutes after the announcement and another friend ordered it a week after the announcement. Both of them received it right away! All of us ordered it from B & H. I'm hoping mine will be in the next shipment, which is due very soon. |

Maria, What a lovely shot of the two bees in their little flower bed. (Nice title!) On my screen the petal with the pollen is sharp, and it leads my eye to the bees covered in their blanket of pollen, which are also nice and sharp; thus the out of focus petals don't really bother me. I wonder what they did when they woke up...hung out for awhile or just flew off. |

Barbara, I really like the crop and composition you created in your post processing. There is plenty of space on both sides of the bird, and the background and the soft muted background complement the heron. Your use of a triangular shape of the dock helps lead the viewer's eye to the main subject. I agree with the other comments and Isaac's edit about brightening the heron up a bit. Nicely done! |

Adrian, What a cool capture from what sounds like a fabulous aviary. I am wondering if perhaps a bit more space to the left and a bit less space on the right might be a useful edit. I also like a mysterious look, so I played around with your image to try to focus more on the birds yet bring out a bit of the mysterious atmosphere. I re-cropped it in PS, using content aware to fill in the left side, and then I took it back into Lightroom and darkened and softened the background to give the flamingos more emphasis while trying to create a mysterious background. |

Isaac, How lucky of you to capture these two mating Spoonbills! When I went to Florida last November, I was hoping to find some in the wild, but we did not. As they mate, it's cool to see in your image, what looks like kissing in the midst of it all! I'm wondering if the image might be a bit more effective with a bit more space on the right side. An interesting tidbit of information about Roseate Spoonbills I discovered is that it is thought that their bright coloring comes from the pigments of the crustaceans that they eat. |

Bruce, What an adorable image! The kits are perfectly captured with great depth of field, excellent focus and a truly endearing story being told as they do indeed look like Best Friends Forever! Nicely done! |

Thanks, Bruce. I do love the capabilities of the Nikon 850. I am patiently awaiting the arrival of my new Nikon Z8, which I can't wait to try out with birds! |
