Gary, I am just in the process of finishing up a different article that I have been planning to submit so right now I don't think I would like to start another article. However, I like the idea of collaborating on a future article. Let's keep in touch regarding this. Thank you for the suggestion. |

Hi Gary,
Thank you for your kind comments! Yes, I do shoot the falls at a variety of shutter speeds, and then I go back and forth when deciding which look appeals to me the most. For this image I did not like the one with a 4 second shutter speed because the falls became too creamy and the movement was not as noticeable. I have attached that image to show you. The 2.5 shutter speed used in my image this month was exactly what I was going for; creamy with a bit of translucency. I have found the most success when shooting at the right time of day. Near sunset, when the light is soft and beautiful, has provided me with the best results. Sunrise would be nice too but I can never get up early enough! If you are interested in visiting this waterfall, it's in Holley. Marie |

Mary, First of all thank you for the volunteering that you do for Roswell. My father-in-law received excellent care there 6 years ago before he passed away from lung cancer, and my husband received great care there when he had brain surgery 6 years ago. (He is doing great now!). Your processing of this image really brings out the lovely colors and clarity of the corals. The silhouette of your dive buddy provides an interesting story as the fish look up wondering who this new fish in their sea might be. |

Thank you Adrian. Yes, I did take quite a few images with various shutter speeds. It really was fun. The interesting thing was that there was a parking lot right by the base of the water. It was a completely unexpected surprise to discover the falls. Apparently there is some hiking up above the falls, but it was too late in the day for us to start a hike. We will return to see what other interesting areas might exist there. |

Adrian, You did a great job with your post processing. The pop of the red tongues is especially effective in contrast to their white fur. The snow flakes that you captured are effective against the blurred background. Nicely done. |

Walt, when I first glanced at your image, I thought it was a flower in a field taken at night. I find the simplicity and sharpness of the image to be very effective. |

Isaac, I love all three of your images and look forward to seeing additional images from your workshop with Steve Perry. The lighting that you brought out on his belly and face really enhance the lovely composition. I also enjoy the story being told when one views all three images! |

Bruce,
Wow! What a fabulous catch! There is so much about this image that I find effective: the colors, the simple background, the spread of the one male cardinal's wings and the story being told. I think I know which male was chosen by the female! |
