Such a nice image of the Bittern. They are very skittish so I am impressed that you were able to capture it in open.
I have only heard an American bittern. Although, I have seen a Least Bittern (smaller than the American Bittern) in Arizona. I spent almost half hour for it to come out of the reeds in the marshes. When it finally came out it was just for a split of a second. Unfortunately, I was not able to focus my camera on it. |

Grace, A nice image of the spoonbill. I agree with Gerhard and Larry's comments. These are such interesting birds. We had two juveniles visit the local wetlands for two weeks, a couple of summers ago. I had a blast photographing them while they were here. |

Very beautiful image of the Sandhill crane.
I spent an entire weekend photographing these birds in Alabama in January. It was really mesmerizing, I just didn't want to leave even though it was below freezing that weekend. |

Wow this is a beautiful photograph of a such a colorful bird. you have captured its environment and its colors so well.
I have seen a Bronzed-winged Jacana in India but was not able to get a good photograph. It is interesting to see the differences in the two species. Thank you for sharing! |

Thanks Isaac for your comments. There was a tree stump between me and the bird. So unfortunately I couldn't see the entire reflection from my view point. Posted: 02/07/2025 19:40:22 Reply Edit Delete

Hi Gloria,
This is such a great story of the life of these Painted Storks. I like how you have framed the single stork with the two trees hosting a colony. I think the entire scene tells a story worth framing.
They are such gorgeous birds. When I visit Mumbai, I always make it a point to go photograph them in early mornings at dawn when they are still roosting on the trees or at dusk when they are arriving for roosting. Although watching them fish is quite mesmerizing as well. They can gobble up several big fish in a short amount of time. |

Hi Judy,
This is a beautiful shot of the Florida Scrub Jay and tells a great story. Very interesting to know the families don't inter-mix.
I like that you caught the bird while preening, showing the details in the feathers. The twigs don't bother me as much since they show the habitat. If you were to remove some, I would remove the once that are not in focus.

Hi Sherry,
I love the details in the feathers and even the fish, the catchlight in the eye, the water droplets and the composition. I have tried capturing these birds while fishing with no results. So I appreciate this image even more.
