15 Aug 24 Reply Hi Pei-Fan, Thank you for your comments. Agree the birds camouflage well with their surroundings. Aug 27th
15 Aug 24 Reply Thank you for your comments Isaac. Aug 27th
15 Aug 24 Reply Thanks for your comments and the edits Kathy. I like the image without the stick and applying the dehaze. Aug 27th
15 Aug 24 Reply Jerry, Thanks for your comments. Amazingly this nest was very close to the trail we were escorted on. The image was cropped just a little for the composition aspect of it. I was very glad that I had taken my zoom lens with me instead of the 500mm fixed. Aug 27th
15 Aug 24 Comment Hi Kathy, I like the changes Isaac made. As Gloria mentioned, even before I read her comments, I also thought the Merganser is smiling at me. Aug 27th
15 Aug 24 Comment Pei-Fan, The lighting in this photograph is what drew me to it. My attention went directly to its eye and the beak which are in sharp focus. I like you crop, I think leaving the foliage in the frame gives it some grounding. Beautiful! Aug 27th
15 Aug 24 Comment Jerry, I like the crop, the sharpness in the bird and how the Red-winged Blackbird (RWB) stands out from its background. The pose and your title tells a story.
We see RWB's in our area as well and I have seen them being so noisy when it comes to protecting their nests.

15 Aug 24 Comment Jim, Beautiful pair of mergansers. I like the crop and the perfect lighting on the birds with the catch light in their eyes. Superb! Aug 27th
15 Aug 24 Comment Gloria, Lovely photo! You have done an amazing job isolating the birds from the tree branches. I found that to be the most challenging aspect of photographing them in their nests. I enjoyed photographing these amazing birds in air and in their nests. While we were there we also saw some nests had their young already. When the parent came to feed them the other frigatebirds tried to steal the meal as the parent regurgitated the food into its babies mouth. Such interesting birds. Aug 27th
15 Aug 24 Comment Hi Isaac, Very nice portrait of this vulture. I like the birds pose, beautiful color on the background and the sharpness of the bird. I agree with Jim's comments and Kathy's processing definitely looks better.
On one of the walks in early spring by the Chattahoochee river I saw a pair of vulture gently caressing each other. In mid summer that same year around the same area, I saw a family of three on a tree. They were all the same size but I assumed one was a young because the other two took turns in feeding the young. After seeing this gentle behavior among the vultures I started to pay more attention to these birds of prey.

94 Aug 24 Reply Thank you for your comments Sherry. This summer I have really enjoyed photographing butterflies, dragonflies and demselflies in the gardens around us. Aug 27th
94 Aug 24 Comment Hi Sherry, Great photograph! Wood ducks are beautiful birds to photograph. I like that you were able to get the both the male and female in sharp focus and your exposure is spot on to show the beautiful colors in the males head. I also like that you captured a catch light in the both of the eyes. The only thing that would have really pushed this photo to the next level would be if the male was looking toward the camera, but such is photographing wildlife.
I have not seen many Wood Ducks in my area this year. So glad you shares this pair with us.

94 Aug 24 Comment I have to agree with Sherry and Leslie on everything. What a lucky moment indeed. When we were Costa Rica we didn't see any Toucans so glad you shared this one. Aug 27th
94 Aug 24 Comment Donald, You have captured such a beautiful moment in this perfect photograph. I agree with Sherry about cropping the top a little.
I like photographing the fawns as well, they are adorable but only when they don't eat the flowers in my garden :).

94 Aug 24 Comment Judy,
Thanks for sharing this great photo of a new bird for me. I learned a great deal after seeing this photo. Sounds like an amazing trip.

94 Aug 24 Comment Leslie, All three of the Marmots are in sharp focus and posing for you. When I visited the RMNP we saw several of them. I did take some photos but I had altitude sickness (I didn't know at that time but it was confirmed when I was in Quito) so I was not in the right frame of mind. Aug 27th
