Jim, Thank you for your comments. I always find it challenging to photograph the Red-winged Blackbirds. |

Jerry, I see these birds in our area all year round and never get tired of photographing them. I agree with others comments but sometimes you have no choice, specially with wildlife. I like Gloria's approach of dealing with the distractions since the image is so sharp. You even have a feather sticking out on its head which adds an interest to the head shot! |

Gloria, Welcome to the group! I was in the Galapagos in May as well. What a great place for birds isn't it?
The bird is in sharp focus, with great details of the eye and feathers. I like the frigatebirds in the background showing the habitat of this birds. I like Isaacs crop as it brings the Gulls eye to the top 1/3 of the composition.
I almost was going to submit a photo that I took of a Swallow-tailed Gull with its chick on North Seymore but ended up changing my mind :) |

Jim, What a great capture! I love the composition and your crop. In my opinion, the sharpening over sharpened the background. Did you try just sharpening the birds instead of the entire image?
They are such elegant birds with their long pink legs. I love photographing them. |

Isaac, I agree with everyone's comments. I particularly like that there are no distracting elements in the photograph, given the habitat these birds live in. Beautiful! |

Hi John, I had the lens wide open so aperture priority probably would not have helped. This hummingbird liked to get its nectar from the flowers that were inside a plant so it was really hard to isolate the subject from the background. I waited for a while for one to visit a flower that would give me a nicely blurred background, but alas. |

Hi Sherry,
I like Leslies suggestion of cropping. Just brightening the head a little will bring out the eyes even more.
I personally think all photos tell a story and there are memories behind each one of them. I recently heard a webinar in Georgia Nature Photography Association where the photographer talked about making projects. He mentioned how projects help using some photos that might not be the star of your collection but they complete the story. |

Hi Peter, Great image. My first thought was I wish the reflection was not cropped out but the blind explains it all. I see that the out of focus lioness but it doesn't bother me. I think may be because she has created the middle ground for this photograph. All of my attention stays on the details of the lioness in foreground. |

Sounds like a great adventure. Lovely photo, it makes it even more special considering that you were able to achieve it from a rocking boat. I like Leslies suggestion of cloning out the incomplete birds. |

Leslie,
I really like this image. I like the composition and that both mom and cub are in sharp focus. The intense glare of mom, while the cub in its curious pose tells a great story. |

It is a pleasing combination of colors and layers. It is not an easy task to achieve what you have presented. Thank you for sharing. |
