Kathy,
This is a great portrait of the Green Heron. You have captured his intense waiting glare so well. The Green Herons really like to hang out on their own except during the mating season. During the mating season, I always saw a pair on the pond near my home when I lived in San Franscico. It was fun to watch them chase each other. But rest of the year I only saw one, seemed to be a permanent resident :) |

Hi Mike, This is a nice small in frame photo of the Great Blue Heron. It shows the environment of this bird. I like how you have included some of the reflection of the pier. A brighter sky would have brought out the true colors of the GBH. |

Gorgeous! I love the perfect motion blur you created with the wings and the water. The colors are beautiful and I like the crop. Great portrait. |

Isaac, Wonderful shot. Like others I like the Gull skimming the water creating the line. I also like the direction of the light, beautifully illuminating the front of the Gull. It draws my attention to its bill and then takes me down its wing to point where the wing touches the water. The crop that Jim made really brings my attention to this. Beautiful! |

Hi Pei-Fan, Beautiful photo of the Common Kingfisher. I like the changes Kathy made and like her I wished it was facing towards us a little more, but such is nature.
Last year when I visited India it was my first time seeing and photographing this bird. I saw it fish several times but was never able to capture it with such a big fish. In my post for group 94 for March I had submitted a photo of this Kingfisher with a fishing line in its mouth. |

Hello Randall,
This is a beautiful photograph. The two flying birds, Indian Pond Heron (I love taking photos of them when I visit India, particularly when light directly hit their wings) and the Little White Egret are both placed perfectly in the frame with great details in the feathers. I think, the pink lotus blooms in the foreground and the beautifully blurred background makes the viewers eyes converge onto the main subject - the birds. Excellent photo! |

Good family photo, specially the baby clinging to the mom. I agree the crop reduced the clarity significantly. But many a times it is what you get.
There were a lot of black howler monkeys on the property we stayed at in Costa Rica. Glad I did not get poop thrown at as I was happily taking photos of them. |

I agree with other comments about the saturation. Your image shows the vastness of the pronghorn habitat due to which the details on the pronghorn's is lost. So the crop would depend on what you want to convey to the viewer. |

Great photo. How do you like the beta version? I was testing it out yesterday too, it is really nice that one can choose the focal point and focal distance for blurring.
I was one of those who did not like vultures until a few years ago when I saw the parent Black Vultures caring for their young. Seeing the parents teach the young to preen and feed changed my mind about vultures. |

Great job with your new lens Sherry! I am jealous for your new toy as well as for all the birds that are around you :) The Spoonbill is sharp and the depth of field is just awesome. The only suggestion I have is to brighten the eye a little. Love it! |

Judy, What a colorful spider! I typical can't stand watching a spider but this photo may have changed that :). The colors are so vibrant, the crop is perfect and details are incredible. Perfect! |
