Hi Ginny. I looked at your focus point and I saw that it was on the forth petal from the left. I would try to open you aperture. Try starting at 2.8 and open one stop at a time to achieve the focus you would like. When I have my camera on a tripod I like to magnify the subject X2 and check my focus out before I shoot. |

Like the colors a lot. When I would present insect photos the number one comment would be, have the whole insect in focus. Because most of the time you are so close to the subject you need a small aperture F16 to achieve this. Also try to keep the insect parallel to the lens and you can open up the aperture. |

Great Photo. Lighten the shadows on the face a small amount I think would be helpful. |

Hi Ginny, I do not think I could do better than F9 and keep the whole bird if focus, The background was too close. |
