I do not know much at all about black and white. I like the subject matter and that you used an odd number in the photo. On the right side of the photo the horsetail is cropped into close. I hope this helps Dan |

I agree with all of the comments above. My suggestion would to go out different times during the day, early morning, mid day, mid day with a diffuser and at the evening at golden hour and see the differences the the same subject. I hope this helps Dan |

I really like the chicken, great focus and exposure. What I am learning is backgrounds and less is better. When you stop down on the aperture you get more of the background in focus or less blurry. So the separation of the subject and the background the more blurry it will be and this is what a lot of the judges are looking for. Set your aperture so the subject is all in focus and the background is not. It really helps to look at the background right after you pick a subject. I hope this will help it took me a long time to learn this simple rule. Dan |
