This looks like a 590nm original hue and not converted. Dragons are usually quite colourful and I wonder how this would look as a visible spectrum dragon.
BTW, how many images did you stich together?

At first glance I did not like the distant figure in blue. But now I think it works well, the eye sees the horses, then the handler, then the blue figure and then off into the woods. Nice flow. |

I like the original, nice capture.
I think the B&W version background is a little too edgy.
I like Pat's suggestion to layer this over the original and blend, and experiment with the different blending modes. You might have to put an adjustment mask on and lighten the dark spots so some of that lovely red comes through. |

All the different textures running at various angles creates some confusion. I would suggest a simplification with a really tight crop to the hillside in the middle/right, the hill with the diagonal lines. Include the greenery in the foreground and the distant hills to give a foreground, middle and distant plane to the image. |

Blurring the dark background works but I think if you had left some detail in the pavement it would have grounded the figure a bit more rather than having him "floating" as a cutout. Detail under his feet and flowing into blur with the background. |
