I think the main factor may lighting. Some of my images are very anemic but the best are when the sun is at my back.
My process is to First apply a DNG profile to the image. Then some global adjustments in Viveza followed by the red/blue swap. Then if necessary back to Viveza for local control or into Silver effects pro for monochrome.. |

Now that you have all made such nice comments I will throw out a detail from this shoot. The guy I was riding with commented, after we had left, that while wading through the grass along the fence he saw one copperhead snake and then a bit father along stepped on a dead copperhead. And he waited to tell this until we had finished thrashing around this site. Thanks! So let's be careful out there.

Starting from 830 did you use Vivesa to bring in the colors?
My Sony is an 830nm but I am thinking of getting it re-converted to 590 or 665nm as I find I can get better dynamic range starting with faux color images than I can if starting from 830-850no images. |

This is a great picture! By minimizing the background the focus is directed to the memorial. But the faded and almost tortured trees support the gothic character of the memorial.
There is a bit of noise in the sky. I have become a big fan of the Topaz AI Denoise. Well worth the price.
There is the world famous Cavendish labs, but where is this memorial? |

Really interesting image. I like the contrast of the frilly foliage against the rigid building. The reflected building has a floating quality as seen in Chinese paintings.
There is a fair amount of noise in the background. I recently purchased the Topaz AI Denoise and have been very impressed with its effect. Much better than Nik Dfine. |

I assume this was shot in 590nm. The HDR really captured the tonal range of this scene.
It is a lovely image with the look of a winter morning. I can image standing there inhaling cool crisp air. Feels good on a hot summer day like today! |

I have a "cathedral" feeling about this image with its stained glass and the slanted sun rays.
And yes, it makes one want to know who, and, why, did they build this piece into their backyard fence. I imagine they were interesting people.
Isn't this fun!

Thank you for your kind comments.
For a still life I think there are several dynamic elements here. The diagonal shadows, the cross hatched fencing and the vertical boards.
The software wanted to warm the green of the stained glass background but I kept it, mostly, that cool colour to balance the overall warm tone.
It is fun to go back through old photos and find these little gems that lend themselves to "painting." |

I too frequently go back to prior images and and a tweet here an adjustment there. Glad you reposted the changes. I agree this is a better version.
I am still bothered by the eyes. They are what we look at first. The white edgings are kind of distracting. |
