67 Aug 20 Comment Madu, WOW! I love the expression the eagle is giving. It's like "you caught me".

The captured image is of a true nature shot regardless of an ah-ha moment, you took the shot and captured a great image. I like the crop you did bringing in the bird much closer. Nice lighting and colors. There is a little fuzziness noted, and as Larry mentions it could be due to the engine running on your car.

67 Aug 20 Comment Richard,

What a great capture of this little Mockingbird. The entire image is crisp and full of detail. The expression from the bird is priceless. There are some good things that came from CORONA. The image has excellent depth of field and a wonderful point of view with you being at eye level.

Your cropping is well done and trully brings the entire focus onto the bird. I really don't mind the slight blur of the tail feathers as the rest of the bird is sharp and in focus.
Beautiful catch light as well in the eye. When I zoom in on it, you have capture the clouds and blue sky. Well done Sir!

67 Aug 20 Comment What a magnificent capture Larry. I applaud you for telling the "mob" off. A true conservationist and shame on the others for even remotely thinking of disturbing a rare species.

I do have one observation which I didn't see explained. Your original photo is different than the one posted. Was this to show the difference between the species?

The image is nicely lit and the colors are sharp. What were your camera settings? I'm looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us next month.

67 Aug 20 Comment Striking image Jason. I love the colors and contrasts of both the foreground and background. The purples and yellows go well together and the goldfinch stands out nicely. The shadow of the thistle on the birds breast shows the light is from the side. As Richard mentioned, increasing the highlights on the bird a bit more would show the light and then lighten the colors allowing the bird to standout more.

I really like the bokah background with the faded colors. Very nicely framed!

67 Aug 20 Comment Gotta love this shot. Rain soaked, it makes we want to use Larry's LensCoat for him - LOL..

Even with you crop, you have captured a very sharp image. The poor little thing definitely looks defeated and you have captured that nicely. You have even managed to capture the rain drop in the background with just the right Bokah. Subtle background and the shadows are well adjusted to allow the colors of the Kiskadee to stand out. Your cropping of the stump/stand is well done. It brings out the bird better and isn't a distraction.

67 Aug 20 Reply Thank you for the great tip Larry. I might have to invest before Mt. Rainier in three weeks. Heading up there over Labor Day week. I have wanted to photograph the mountain and park for some time now, so this may do the trick. The one I have is from Altura and fits up to a 75mm lens.

I added a bonus feature with the pair. I'll play with the suggestions you and Richard have mentioned and add an image.

I will be OOT through Sunday, heading back to the hills for some additional R&R.

67 Aug 20 Comment Thank you Richard for the comments/suggestions. With this one, I pretty much filled the frame with it with little wiggle room on either side to adjust position. One thing I've learned is that when there an illusion of movement you can place the subject further to the left. Sometimes, it just does appear natural, so I don't it. But the I view another photographer's image and I like it. Due the fact that this was really compressed at 450 mm, I didn't leave enough room to allow the adjustments without it really looking off.

I actually have the pair in several of the frames. I agree that the green in the background is a little too over the top GREEN... It actually screams at me now.
