Mark,
I had previously started to submit my comments on my phone, but it never went through. So here you go.
STUNNING!!!!! I love the colors, light, shadows, texture, shapes, lines, etc... You have captured a wonderful composition with depth from front to back and the hint of blue sky ties it all together.
I don't know if you have a wider version of this 16:9, but it would look really awesome as a Panoramic. Well done sir! |

Here is the Black and White version.
I did some slight modifications with the color filters adding a hint of orange, reducing yellow and increasng the greens. I left everything else alone from the Colored version related to the previous descriptions.

Madu,
Beautiful initmate moment between a mother and calf. You have captured this well.
Looking at both original and Larry's rendition, I would agree with Michael, the original is very nice. I took the liberty to make some adjustments as well. There is one distracting item in the background I noticed in the original. It looks like there is a person leaning over with a blue shirt on, just behind the tree behind the mother. I love the gazell in the ravine as well. I used the healing brush on the person to remove it from the image, then decided from the other recommendations to crop out the tree, which eliminated this altogether.
I used both the Horizontal gradient and radial gradients to make some minor adjustments with a focused approach to the elephants by adding some sharpening, clarity, and texture to bring out the hides a little better. I then did the same for the trees to bring out the texture of the bark and adjusted for the light. With the radial gradient, I adjusted some shadowing to bring out the calf's face a bit more as well, and also brought out the gazell in the ravine.
Here is the color version. I also did a rendition in B&W.

Nicely captured here Richard. Your post cropping really did eliminate the vast empty space and pulled the focus on the birds. I would agree with several of the other comments and would try to pull the shadow out of the male's right eye as well.
You did a great job by removing the branch in front. Less of a distraction for sure. |

It was a beautiful morning for sure. I had the spotting scope out as well looking for the wolves, but didn't see any. |

Hi Richard,
WOW! a Definite improvement, so I went back and made these modifications as well. I definitely like the sky cropped down furhter as well, as when I reviewed it again, the blue on either side became distracting, so now with just a hint of blue, the focus becomes more on the center.
The leading lines horizontally become more prominent from left to right and the sun being off centered allows the eye to wander across the image L->R and well as Up and Down.
Thanks all for your suggestions. Always make me better at looking at the image as well. |

Thanks much Madu. Right time, right place. One of my favorites as well. I am think of doing a 2021 calendar of nothing but sunrises. This just might be in the running for September. |

Hey Mark,
I like this version as well. Adding the hint of texture was a good idea. I don't use it much as I do clarity in LR, but this adds the right amount of detail. The cropped image with the sun off center looks good as well and doesn't make it a "center point".... |

Beautiful long exposure with the water captured from the falls and the smoothness of the pool below. The upper portion of the image is smooth and flowing from the siding lighting on the tree leaves and rock wall to the water flowing over into the pool.
Regarding the flowers, I did play with this side a little more, adjusted the highlights, brought down the shadows, added a little sharpening and increased some contrast. See what you think. The flowers were too washed out and became a distraction against the more shadowed image overall.
You always have an eye for great shots and I enjoy reading how you used your techniques to capture your images. I really like how the image is balanced with the rocks in the foreground and the flowers along the right edge, leading up to the rock wall diagonally. I played with the image a bit in LR and looked at cropping down the left side a bit, but did not like the way it flowed. |

Jason, What a great image of reflections. I really enjoy viewing images like these to study and try to emmulate as well. The image has a mystic feel to it which maybe caused by the way the reflections hit the water, the light, and colors.
What really stands out is the background of the trees. They look like an oil painting and they are also carried into the water in the foreground perfectly. The yellow of the grass is what separates the image and I like that seperation. It really compells to be a Modern Abstract nature photo. What would really be cool is to have it enlarged and made into to Tryptic for a large wall.
I love the lines, both horizontally and vertically. It has a so much depth in the image, and the Point of View, makes me feel that I am there seeing in person. |

Michael you have captured the image well. It has an overall subtleness to it and the lighting I feel it what brings this out.
Congratulations on the "WIN" what a surprise!
Your crop appears well done and the focus is on the flower itself. The moth/butterfly on the branch add to the nature flare as if it is seeking a food source. The illuminated light on the upper leaf is very nice and brings out the veins of the leaf very well. The image is sharp and had very nice contrasts and highlights. The color is rich and the contrast between the greens and red are vivid as well. |
