Good morning:
Bolt is the additional light source that I may have used. It is a very light flash/light addition that is attached to the camera. I think I bought it through B&H. I really like it. |

Jennifer,
I haven't had a chance to look at it closely as I have had some issues with my computer. I believe that it is mostly window light. I may have used focused lighting in addition to the window light. I am fairly new to macro and definitely new to our move from Florida to Delaware where we now live in a high rise but it has lots of light in certain rooms because of floor to ceiling balcony windows. I do have a small light source-- I will send you more information tomorrow.
Thanks for your comments.

Lynne,
Wow, I love the changes that you made. As I just said to Jennifer, I am fairly new to macro and to our new home in Delaware so I am very receptive to listening and learning from those that have had more experience than me. |

Diana:
Thanks for trying. Honestly, on my screen it looks cloudy. I have been taking advantage of a lot of "Zoom" photography classes and have made some major changes with Lightroom Classic and continue to focus on Macro and Editing so hopefully we'll see some changes ... Thanks again. |

I really like this one. Thanks for showing me what you meant. I really need some instruction in how to bring someone else's work onto my computer. |

Stephen,
Thanks.
I am fairly new at macro so honestly, I am going to have to try it out and see. As I told friends of mine on Facebook last night I have one orchid plant that is in bloom now and every time a new flower blossoms I am out with my camera. I might even try it find out an answer today. I used a 30mm lens for this photo. I have two other lenses - 50 and 100mm so when I use them I will look into your question. Have to go do something else now otherwise I would get into a whole discussion about the pros and cons of yellow coming across as a bit darker. Have a great day! |

I just finished describing to some of my Facebook friends what I have been doing during this Pandemic. I have an orchid plant that is beginning to bloom and as each part blooms I have been taking photos. I bought this Very light and flexible "Bolt"flash unit and really find it workable. This is really a new area for me. Thanks for your info! |

If you have the time try it and see what you think! Again, I think it is a winner. |

Tom,
I really love it!
The only thing that I am questioning is, what is the green thing around his neck? Is it something that helps to distinguish the man as a "Sand Sculptor" and therefore, should be part of the picture?
Oh, to be around the sand and sea now!!! |

Jennifer,
I wouldn't give up on trying just yet. You know the old expression, if first you don't succeed, try try again. Do you have any other presets that you might want to try? I am seeing that the difference between the color and monochrome is the sky and the tree trunks "pop" more in the color rendition...
I have had similar difficulty here in Delaware with Cherry Blossoms. They are gorgeous, uplifting but, for me, really difficult to capture their beauty whether in color or black and white...

Hi Stephen,
I agree with everything that Ata said, including the information he provided about the Corona virus in Turkey. Thank you Ata for providing that information makes perfect sense.
Back to your interesting photo. I feel that you have tried to put too much into the photo. I really feel there might be several options -- focus on the bamboo and ladders and eliminate the people or focus on the people. Another idea you might want to try is to rotate the scene and make it horizontal instead of vertical.
A number of years ago we visited Vietnam. Your picture brings back very happy memories.
