Lynne,
Thanks for your comments. I too could spend all day photographing lilies in bloom and the lily pads are fascinating. I agree that composition is an issue and an area I try to focus on. It is difficult with the way the areas are designed. I am going to keep trying when the gardens open again. |

Good morning, Tom:
Thanks for recognizing the the nice pattern of the lily pads. I love the lilies and, in the past, didn't focus on the lily pads until this year. They are fascinating!
I am going to look at some other photos that I have of lilies and lily pads. I think what may have happened is when I was converting to black and white I may have used a preset that brought out some blue in the white area. Another explanation and/or excuse is that I was concentrating on getting the detail in the center of the lily... |

Thanks Stephen. The Lily Pad Gardens are not open now; when they open again, I will absolutely take a look to see if I could do what you suggested. It is one of my favorite places to go. The variety of lilies is phenomenal and the lily pads are a picture unto themselves!

Michael,
The only thing I disagree with you about is your preference for mono. I think you did a great job though. As far as the back of the dog in front looking like the dog has been dropped in candy floss-- the owner obviously likes that look. I am not sure that you can do anything with it. I will see what others says maybe they have the answer!

Tom,
What fun--You really caught their expressions and I am sitting here with a smirk on my face -- "tough guys"! It could be my monitor but, I think the third cowboy on the right could be a little sharper.

Stephen,
Interesting photo especially when you look at the original. Could you give some more details about how you went about creating this version?!
Thanks,

Diana,
Wow - timing is "almost" everything. You certainly caught the feeling of the storm and if, that is what you want to portray stay with Original 1. On the other hand Original 2 gives one a sense of after the storm and is much clearer and certainly brighter but you still get the sense of time and place. I would like to see the gradient a little lighter or not as bold. Happy you weren't hurt!

Lynne,
I do not think that the front binder is too distracting especially when you described that it was taken at the Lake Worth Street Painting Festival. The roping, for me, could be eliminated. I love love love the tattooed ladies and you absolutely caught the dynamic eyes on the lady in the back!
